Interesting debate. Fales argued you should be able to say a guy played bad without getting the "they're just kids" people all over them.

I agree with that. I also think its completely different writing off players' futures, or suggesting they transfer after a few bad games. Whether here or directly at them on twitter(where you know they'll read it), I think its way out of line IMO. For example, when Bubu was cleared to play..the few that said things like "he sucks. He should never and won't ever see the floor." And some of the booker talk. Ignoring the fact that these people(myself included) don't know what the hell they're talking about, I find a lot of it incredibly rude and sad..drives me crazy. If saying it to their face would deservedly get you punched, you shouldn't write it online. Am I in the minority on this?

I know its 1000x easier to get to these players with social media, but is that the only difference..technology? Is part of it a generational issue? I don't know. I may be in the minority, but going too far on attacking players on here is one of my biggest pet peeves.

I agree with you that we shouldn't be kicking these guys when they're down, and I try really hard to be positive, or don't say anything, at least sports related (politics can be another matter).

That said, forums harbor all kinds and they are going to say what they think, and I think they have that right, however wrong it might be.

Saying a guy played bad != Attacking a player

this.

To give specifics from how CF is moderated, a post that says "Player X is not playing well right now. Coach should bench him for a while." will stay up. One that says "Player X sucks! He should never be allowed on the court/field again!" will be deleted every time. It boils down to being respectful, as far as Chris/site owners are concerned.

Why all the hate for Player X, Janny?

I fully endorse this policy. You may proceed.

What if Player x is a certain gangly center who flipped his car into a corn field and had a dragon tattoo?

What if "Player X" really does suck?

If Player X mattered so much, Player X would have a real name.

Fred better not be giving scholarships to actual no-name guys. There should be enough players with actual names to go after.

I feel like I should burn my season tickets.

Then keep it to yourself...

Or, I guess you could make a big production, melt down, and say stuff like "**** my life!" and "I'm done with this team!."

Either choice is fine, but I will warn you that people who choose the second option tend to forget to make their Photobucket accounts private, and it gets kind of embarrassing. The choice is yours, though.
