Hey everyone, my wife and I have received some wonderful news! After moving away from Ankeny 6 years ago, we are moving back!!! I thought I would start here, when we lived in Ankeny prior, we always ran our own Co-ed team, unfortunately we won't be moving back in time to start our own this year. We are searching next week with the hope that we move by Mid-May or June at the latest.

Do any of you have any teams that would be looking for a couple to join the a team? I know it may be tough since we won't be there for the start. My wife plays 1st and I play Shortstop, pitch, basically anywhere you would need me.

We would be willing to pay for the entire season etc.

I am also looking to find a men's team at least one night per week also.

Thanks in advance, we are excited to be home and get season tickets again! Go State!

I'd suggest walking into the various sports bars and asking. Jakes would be a good start. It's a huge softball hangout. They sponsor a few teams as well.

if my wife and I didn't have 3 kids at our heels I'd start one (assuming your decent ). Love me some softball.

Ya, I know Phelps and go there when I am in town. Problem is I live 4 hours away until May/June, so going to be tough to make it in, etc. Thanks for the suggestion, I am sure we will find something. Thanks!

LOL, I am 35 and still play shortstop, I am decent, not amazing, but can still get it done. If you have ever played co-ed, you know the ladies on the team determine how good the team will be, my wife is pretty good, lefty, hits for power, better 1st baseman than most of the 1st basemen I have played with in men's leagues (not joking). Let me know next year in April if you and your wife can play, I will be starting a team for sure next year and will need a few players. I probably have 6 people I could get to play right now if I would be in Ankeny in time.

My fiance and I also live in Ankeny and we're also looking for a team. She's 26 and I'm 30 and I'd say we're both decent athletes. If you come across anything let us know

Will do, maybe we just need to get a team sponsored by Fanatic :), I can run it, but just won't be there by the start of the season, if we get enough interest I could look into it.

My fiance and I would probably be interested in an Ankeny fanatics team!

I'm sure Chris would jump on board with this idea. Hell that's 6 already, what do you typically want for a team including subs?

I used to play co-ed but once we all started to hit our early to mid 30's and people starting having kids our co-ed team folded a few years ago but I know what you mean, you could have 5 really good guys on your team but if your females are no good then it didn't matter.

I'm still trying to get a feel for how many guys we'll have back on our men's team right now. I know I am going to be short in the spring due to some guy's rehabbing an injury or scheduling conflicts but by the time you are back in town I think we'll have a full roster again but feel free to shoot me a PM later this year if you still looking

Some info I found on Des Moines Parks and Rec's website. Not sure if Ankeny has their own leagues or not, sure would be nice for travel purposes.

Be careful what you get yourself into I hear the price of softballs has gone through the roof.

I might be able to be talked into sponsoring a team. Heck, I might even play on it! Also, BCforISU, if you need an AWESOME real estate agent to help you in Ankeny, I think I might know myself! I live here too and know it well! MarkCharter.com to learn more!

Dang should've asked you about sponsoring for a Clive team.

Ankeny does have teams, $350 per team I think, 12 game schedule and then a tourney. I believe they start in April sometime, so we would miss half the season, but would still be interested.

Appreciate it, we already have a realtor through our Relocation for the company, otherwise I would have jumped all over it, I may be in touch about the sponsorship, I think we already have a bunch of interest from the looks of things!

Where did you find this info? I looked on Parks and Rec page for Ankeny but maybe I didn't look close enough. Sure would be sweet if we could make this happen but we're running out of time pretty quickly.

And Mark, that would be awesome man. My fiance and I will be looking to buy in the next year ourselves as soon as our lease is up at Woodland Reserve so I know we'll def be in touch.

Anyone else interested in playing?

I'll be relocating that direction in May....my skills compare favorably to Roberto Alomar. I would potentially be interested if this thing gets off the ground!

Awesome! If games start in April do you live close enough that you could commute to play or would you have to wait until May?
