NBA: More Ref Allegations for the NBA

It looks like there is some new evidence about another ref being included in the Doneghy scandal.

There was interesting commentary I heard on the radio last week:

Apparently basketball refs, unlike MLB umps, are not announced before each game and that makes a huge difference in the game outcome & the betting.

Suppose a Baseball Ump is working home plate and he's known to have a narrow strike range. Well, because the Umps are announced before each game, it's just one more bit of info Vegas uses to set the betting lines. Not so in the NBA

The commentator went on to say that, if the underground betting world knew which Basketball Ref was going to work a game (for example Doneghy tells his croonies what game he's working) - while the Vegas Bookies had already set the betting line, the underground could place their bets accordingly. If a certain ref is known to call close fouls, or eject players, etc. that could affect the Over / Under line.

This is something Commish Stern is going to have to change in the future.

hmm makes me wonder if any refs for college football/basketball bets on games or anything shady like that just from some calls that you see sometimes like say the oregon/oklahoma game.
