Thanks again to @madguy30 for the idea! It's sort of a flip of last week's: shows or movies you didn't think were very good when they first came out, but then realized they were great.

A couple for me:

- Punch Drunk Love - I've long been a fan of Paul Thomas Anderson, but thought this was super dull and slow when I saw it in the theater. I've grown to appreciate it more as time has gone on.

- The Big Lebowski - I thought it was just okay the first time I saw it, but now really enjoy it.

Another Paul Thomas Anderson movie here

When Boogie Nights came out I thought it was about the dumbest concept for a movie. Eventually I watched it on cable. After several viewings I came to appreciate it more with each viewing. I don't understand why but I do.

Oddly enough, Anchorman.

I thought it was kinda dumb the first time I saw it but I absolutely LOVE it now. I thought the sequel was brilliant too...as good as the original.

+1 on Napoleon Dynamite. I couldn't decide if they were trying to be funny or it was a really bad movie. Once I figured that out, it became a top-10 movie for me that I quote multiple times a week

I think it's because Anderson draws his characters so sharply, you have to care about them. And that's what makes a good movie, IMHO. Even Little Bill - you felt so bad for him getting cuckolded, it was hardly surprising what happened at the New Year's Eve bash.

The one movie I really "awakened" to was 2001:A Space Odyssey. It didn't help that I saw it in junior high school. (I was weeks getting over it.) It made no sense to me at all. But now, after repeated viewings, I've come to realize it was allegory. The vixen can't stand it, because she doesn't want to think hard when she watches a movie. I prefer the intellectual challenge.

Pulp Fiction - hated it the first time I saw it

Frozen - something about it didn't work for me at first, but it grew on me after 87 viewings

Young Frankenstein - I was too young to pick up on the humor when I first saw it

Monty Python and the Holy Grail - another one where the humor was above my age during the first viewing

Actually, the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns. Like Good Bad Ugly. I didn't watch them when they first came out (we saw movies like Love Bug and Flubber).

Then saw him in Every Which Way is A Really Stupid Movie.

I would catch bits and pieces on TV here and there but never got enough to get engrossed into them. My BIL was a huge fan of them so I decided last year to give them a fresh chance and really did appreciate them for what they are.

Step Brothers and Anchorman. Most Will Ferrell movies for me are far funnier the second time.

Step Brothers and Anchorman stand the test of time. They are stupid no matter when you see them, just like most of Will Ferrell's movies.

Funny thing is, I really like Will Ferrel, but most of his movies are juvenile and stupid.
