Players union did not support the refs, they should have stuck to their guns and supported the refs instead of complaining later on when they did not like the situation. The owners will not budge until the players union takes action.

If it takes that. The NFL has no reason to make changes, the new refs will eventually get better. TV ratings and attendance are not down because of this, so why change?

And it will take multiple seasons for the new refs to reach competent status.
I'm not saying they will change, but is the players union really going to lockout because the referee union can't get a deal done? I don't see that happening.
