Why does the MLB schedule one game - break - and then continue the series?

The league doesn't do it, the computers that make the schedules do. I really have no idea, but I do know that the Cubs have 5 days off in their first 38 games, and only have 2 off days in September.

They do that with teams that play outdoors an could have weather affect that first day
