MJ Heckles Barnes

Somewhere in the myriad of NCAA rules I'm guessing a booster giving away $200 pairs of sneakers is illegal.

I thought the same thing until I read...
Upon hearing that, the words "NCAA violation" might spring into your head, but it appears that wouldn't likely be the case, as the Jordan Brand — owned by, of course, Jordan — is the team's official equipment supplier.

It's not when it's MJ and Nike.

What I thought was odd was when he said to Barnes, "I'm going to cut you off." Cut him off from what?:wideeyed:

After watching MJ's Hall of Fame induction speech, I'm sure he meant every word he said to HB and the other players even if it did sound like he was joking.

I assume this just means the stuff that the rest of the team gets--jerseys, shorts, other gear. Don't try to read until it any more than you have to.

I'm just thinking how cool it would be to have MJ flip me ****. That would be pretty cool.
Exactly. If you get the attention of MJ like that, you're doing something right. Anyone think MJ is going to give two ***** whether the benchwarmer averaging 2.8 points and 1.5 rebounds a game if he is wearing Kobe shoes or the Jordans?

I'm sure nothing would ever become of it but that's a straight up offer of a gift from a booster.

Someone help me with this question. Every couple years isu has an equipment sale. What determines what a player can keep and what the school keeps?

This was my immediate reaction as well. I can't believe just how bitter MJ seems to be. What does he have to be bitter about? He is considered the greatest player of all time, worldwide. I don't think he has been put down too much.

The players will keep whatever they can manage to smuggle home. Haven't played for ISU for 9 years but still have an adequate supply of shorts, polos, t shirts and warmups. Wore out the shoes a while ago though.

Oh yeah and I still have a wear my ISU stocking hat I was given, lol.

Most all of the items in the sale are left overs that were never used. A player can keep everything that they get with the exception to safety gear in football.

I have no problem with what Jordan said in the video. He is the president/CEO/whatever-he-is of the Jordan brand. Many times now the teams that go to tournaments get "tournament shoes" so they can pimp the latest and the greatest shoe that the company has. This year Nike has the Air Max Fly By, adidas has the retro Crazy 8's. Jordan, I believe, was saying that if the team made the Final Four then he would send the enitre team whatever shoe they wanted.

When I was in school waiting for good ol Cy-ride one day Homan was showing off his free pair of shoes he had just gotten for finishing last in the Big 12.

BTW When you're Michael Jordan you do what you want, he can donate whatever he wants to the school, and they can Divy it up accordingly.
