Missed Opportunity

I think there are still about 4-5 "toss-up" games on the schedule that are winnable by this team (never mind that we always seems to win one we "shouldn't" and lose won we "should" win under Rhoads), but all things considered this was a missed opportunity considering the defensive performance tonight.

That missed XP really changed the game. And the offense looked lost in the woods for much of the game.

Yep this one hurt. The schedule get's pretty ugly from now on. Hope the O finds something to put together for next week.

It's becoming all too familiar a story. I really thought something had changed at ISU. I'm back to believing this is just the way it's gonna be.

Yeah I have lost faith already. I don't want to but if our offense had two weeks to prepare for TT and this is the result the rest of our games only get harder.

It's nice to be in a position to have 4-5 toss-up games. We'll be fine. Regroup and go and win two that we're not supposed to win instead of one. CPR does a great job of coaching and learning from losses. He'll have the team team ready for TCU.

Hope you are right. In past PR years, I felt like we had a few really bad games, or were just out manned. This one though, I saw some stuff out there on offense that was truely alarming, that I am not sure can be fixed in a week or two....or an entire season for that matter.

Any time you lose to a team that will likely finish in the bottom half of the B12, you've missed an opportunity.

"This team???" thats the thing though... which team will show up for these games? the team that looks like a high school team, or the team that shows up and looks like a decent program? offensive consistency has always been a problem. i have seen this team go out and rack up a ton of yards and get some nice wins. i have seen this team go out and look like they have no clue what they are doing... i think alot of this has to fall on the play calling. at times, everybody and their mother knows exactly what play is coming

We play tough defense like we did tonight and we could upend the horney toads.

Got to get a few things ironed out though.

It's so discouraging to have such a solid defense and have the offense continually screw it up. No matter how good our defense is, we're never going to be successful with the ******* disaster of an offense we've had all four years now under Rhoads/Herman/Messingham.

We've had a lot of horrible, painful losses the past four years...but I'm more down after this one than any of the past ones. I don't know that we're ever going to get to the point where we can take advantage opportunities like tonight.

I'm not willing to give up on the season yet, but damn, things will look bleak if we leave Fort Worth at 3-2 (0-2).

Agreed. We just let one that we needed slip away. Now we have to win next week to keep bowl hopes alive IMO. Besides KU, TCU and Baylor appear to be the most winnable games left.

That is how insanely good the B12 is top to bottom.

I know it's early, but I agree. It's hard to find 3 games I feel good about winning without one of them being TCU.

Sat, Oct 06 @ #15 TCU

Sat, Oct 27 vs #25 Baylor
Sat, Nov 03 vs #16 Oklahoma

Pick 3 wins... It is difficult to do right now.

This.....Our defense is as good as anyone here.
But our offense is not good. and when it is it shoots itself in the foot. I said this before the TT Game fwiw.
We are going to hold teams that normally score 40-50 points to 25 or less. And that will be with a tired defense and one where the offense puts them in a bad spot.
But who knows....After watching a couple games last year we looked like crap also. I have the feeling the last game of the year will be for bowl eligibility.

I just hope Techs defense was pretty good. Because if we can't score more than 1 touchdown in a league that doesn't play a lot of defense.....we are trouble. We have scored 22 points against 2 BCS teams this season combined.

Yeah you could be right, its just that at ISU we are basically a basketball school with a bad football program year after year and then every decade or so we have 1 or 2 good football teams, then back to losing home games to teams like Tech, who if we were a football school we would blow out ....

Nothing ever seems to change at Ia State in the football realm just more of the same old krap....
