Without picking and choosing which games, what would be the minimum number of wins that you would consider not just acceptable, but actually be happy with?

Curious as to where the barometer is going into year one of the Rhoads era.

My answer would be four. My season prediction is three but with the favorable schedule I wouldn't consider three wins a success.

I'd only be happy if we win at least 6 and make a bowl game. I think 5 would be acceptable, but I wouldn't be happy with it.

Normally I would say you are crazy going 6 with a brand new coach at ISU, but with the ease of schedule I can see the rationale.

Wow. That is more than Chizslip has for his whole career.You go, man.

My scale:

2=Displeased
3=Acceptable but not overly excited
4=Satisfied and optimistic for 2010
5=Streaking down Welch Ave

Anything outside of 2-5 would floor me.

I think 4 would give us some hope that CPR was on track. 3 wins would honestly disappoint me. The biggest reason I would be disappointed by that is because last year we lost 4 close games. Our schedule is easier this year, and we return a lot of guys, some who are fairly talented (especially on offense). Honestly, better coaching could have made the difference in those 4 close games, so part of me thinks we have the talent and most importantly, the schedule, to win 6 games. It's clear that CPR has made better coordinator hires than Chizik did, and he seems to be more proven in the fact that he knows how to get results out of 2 and 3 star players, so if he can't get 4 wins out of the decent offensive talent and weak schedule that we have, I'm going to be a little worried.

How I see it:

3 = Unsuccessful
4 = Expected
5 = Successful
6 = Possible (kool aid)

EDIT: Drank a little kool aid

+1

I think we're good enough to win 3 non-conference games and our offense should help us steal one away from either Iowa, Baylor, K-State or Colorado. The defense just has to show up and be respectable.

If we start the season 2-2, I'll be disappointed.

i mite get bashed for it but i voted 6 and that is just because easier schedule and i think it is possible
Me too. We have a shot at being 4-0 at the beginning of conference play. If we can't win at least 2 conference games I'll be disappointed. 3 games on the schedule will be the difference between a good season and a disappointing one: K-State in KC, Baylor at home, and Colorado at home. I think we can win at least 2 of those.

Here's how I see it, through 2 different views:

Realistic

NDSU- W
Iowa - L
@Kent State - W
Army - W
K-State - W
@Kansas - L
Baylor - L
@Huskers - L
@A & M - L
Okie State - L
Colorado - W
@Mizzou - L

Record 5-7 (2-6)

In all honesty, I see us winning the K-State game in somewhat of a shootout in what might be the only upset of the year. Iowa was a tossup, and will most likely come down to if our offense can move the ball against them (the hawks will score, that much is guaranteed). I would take this as a success and move forward to the 2010 season against real Big XII competition.

and now the OYEAHKOOLAIDTIME! estimates

5 for me but I dont think 6 is outside the realm of possiblity. I agree with the prediction of Zclone except I think we will get one out of Iowa, Baylor or Mizzou.

I know, I know WTF? Mizzou? I just dont think they will be very good next year.

I voted 6 because that is really the only way I would be happy, but 4 or 5 would be on the right track. 3 or less will be disappointing.

here is what im honestly expect looking on paper:

NDSU-W
Iowa-L
@Kent State-W
Army-W
KState-W
@Kansas-L
Baylor-L
@Nebraska-L
@AM-L
OK State-L
Colorado-W
@Mizzou-L

so 5-7

Knowing the way things usually go for ISU:

NDSU-W
Iowa-L
@Kent State-L
Army-W
KSTATE-L
@Kansas-L
Baylor-L
@Nebraska-L
@AM-L
OK State-L
Colorado-W
@Mizzou-L

3-9

What i think is truly possible:

NDSU-W
Iowa-W
@kent State-W
Army-W
KSTATE-W
@Kansas-W
Baylor-W
@Nebraska-L
@AM-L
OK STATE-L
Colorado-W
@Mizzou-L

great start is very possible but some tough road games and okie state diminish hopes of BCS Bowl season 8-4

You think we can win at KU? I wish everyone was as optimistic as you.

4 would be acceptable. If we beat the teams we should (NDSU, Kent State, Army) and one other (Iowa, Colorado, Kansas State) I would be OK. Five wins is better and then I am excited. More than five wins and we should mint a CPR coin!

I hope we get 4, but to call it successful I think we need to be bowl eligible. Which I don't think we'll be.
