MiniDV to Digital Question

I have a box of around 15 MiniDVs that I am trying to figure out what to do with. I have the JVC camcorder still but it works sporadically. I am looking for some suggestions on transferring these MiniDVs to another format.

Anyone had any success with a Des Moines area digital transferring service? Anyone done this themselves?

I had to do this for a project but my JVC camcorder still works pretty well. You might want to try to buy another camcorder on eBay or something just for the project. Then you can determine if you need a FireWire or usb connection on your pc. There is free software that works pretty well. It will convert it to a good digital format. Or you can pay someone I’m sure but I don’t have coats on that.
