MLB: Miguel Cabrera / Hank Aaron comparison

I'm torn on arguments like this comparing players from different generations.

Aaron played with lesser equipment, but Cabrera has faced better pitching.
 
I don't know about the comparison but I'm confident in saying Miguel Cabrera is the best RH hitter in this generation.

Why do you think Cabrera has faced better pitching? For about the first 14 years of Aaron's career he faced pitchers who had a higher mound: an advantage no longer present. I mean this as a legit question.

I think it's an accurate comparison at the plate. In the field they're miles apart.
 
Maybe it's just because I don't follow baseball but doesn't it seem like Cabrera flies under the radar? It seems like i hear much more about other guys.

The theory, at least by the Detroit media, is his failure to master English. His failure to speak English very well hurts his public image - he's not a very good interview, and he doesn't endorse many products, at least not to mainstream America. As good of a player as he is, his image simply isn't sellable, which is why he flies under the radar.

I'm only 29, so I the oldest Braves I remember are Glavine and Sid Bream, but my impressions of Aaron were that he flew under the radar as well, and just put up really good, but not great seasons, for a very long time. The numbers just added up after a while.

I think we all can agree that pitching today is better than pitching of the last era. The height of the mound is cancelled out due to the strength of current pitchers. The lefty righty matchup is being utilized more now than ever, pitchers have more pitches, they throw harder, and like someone mentioned 7,8,9 guys are more specialized. Hitters now are facing pitchers at their best and at full strength more than ever.

Vikes, think of Cabrera like a Kirby Puckett, only a little skinner and a much, much, better hitter. I don't think the comparison is that crazy. I don't see Cabrera putting up numbers like Aaron did, but he's definitely in that conversation I think.
