in our neighborhood this week. Got a flyer from them yesterday offering 200mb for $49.95 a month for one year. Installation free but modem is $15 per month.
Currently getting DSL speed service from Century Link. Paying for 20mp but only getting 7.4 down and 0.7 up into house. $77.95 per month.

Century Link coming out Saturday to see why I am only getting 7.4mb. When I called to get the appt. I was told they would go to 40mp for $50 per month guaranteed for life.

If Century can get problem solved and I will get 40mb any reason to switch to Metronet's fiber optic service?

40mbps seems really slow these days when even mediacom's slowest offering is 60mbps (and their standard offer is 100mbps at this point)

If I’m understanding this it’s not even ONT rental, it’s a monthly service fee you can’t avoid. That’s ******* weak, just roll it into the cost of service

LOL really? Does anyone here have Metro and not pay that fee by owning equipment?

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM CENTURYLINK. IF you have a different option, do it. BtW, when you do try to get rid of CENTURYLINK, you will see the real side of that company and how they operate. We had the chance to switch to mi-fiber and haven't looked back.

I have Metronet and really like it. I purchased my own Eero mesh system on Amazon so I didn’t have to pay the monthly rental fee for theirs. I got the router and two beacons and they provide great coverage in my 2 story house. I got their 1 gig promotional package which is $59.95 for the first 6 months then it goes to $69.95 after that. The kicker is they add a $9.95 technology which you can’t get away from. I’ll gladly pay $80 a month for 1 gig fiber with no data cap compared to the $100 per month I was paying Mediacom for their 300 mb package with a 2000 gb data cap.

Internet is expensive no matter who you go through. $80 a month is high and only getting more in cost. If you're going to pay this much you should have lightning speed 24/7. service interuptions drive me crazy as well as fluctuations in speed. I have CL

No data caps is worth the $10 tech fee, I really just never want to have to care or think about how much data we’re using. Same with cell phones.

e\I have metronet but it comes off pole in my backyard to ,my house. Wish is was buried but whatever they came out right away and here strung int after that microburst that nailed west Ames. I will never go with any one but Metronet
