Men’s BB eligibility

To be honest, in the new transfer portal/NIL world we live in, I've kind of given up on tracking remaining eligibility and accepted the fact that bball coaches are having to rebuild their roster every year now.

This is why I was so optimistic about the team and the “wait and see” attitude from fans and media baffled me.

Between the coaching stability, recruiting class ranking, transfer class ranking, and a little nod to Hilton…ISU was looking very good compared to most programs, even most good programs.

This is true. We're so fortunate to have TJ and his staff in today's environment.

However, it isn't just the transfer portal/NIL challenge they have to deal with. It's also losing your best players to the NBA draft. Lord knows we've lost some great players to the draft these last several years, and there are a couple guys on our current roster who will opt for the draft before they use up their eligibility.

All that said, I don't think we could have a better coach to lead our program in this very chaotic environment.

Potentially Biliew…so basically the entire frontcourt. TJ and staff will need to find some portal gems.
For me, this is the biggest reason why it's so great to have Rock on campus a year early. By portal season, TJ will have a really good idea of how Rock is developing and acclimating to going up against tough Big 12 upperclassmen like Ward, Jones, and King. It'll help determine whether Otz is just looking for frontcourt depth or if he's looking for more of a day 1 starter.

Other sites say C. Jones just has this year.

Others with just this year include King, Ward, B. Jones.

No. The plan is for CuJo to use his Covid year and be back next year.

2020-2021: Indian Hills (Free Covid year)
2021-2022: Buffalo
2022-2023: Buffalo
2023-2024: Iowa State
2024-2025: Iowa State

Keshon Gilbert will presumably be back next year as a true senior. That will be his final year of elgibility. No Covid year.

Pav is a true sophomore. Two more years remaining beyond this year. Same clock as Lipsey.

Have to figure we'll see more 3 guard lineups next year out of necessity. Only one or two (Biliew) available to add to Rock, Momcilovic, Fish and Watson. Even if another scholarship opens that would be really thin to play 3 bigs like they've shown this year.
