First off, great game clones. You did us proud today. Anybody else notice or annoyed by the Sportscenter announcer (not sure of his name) mispronouncing Melvin's name today? Eeedge-um. I could maybe give them a pass if he were a bench player, but we are talking about the Big 12 player of the year. I guess I should be used to this level of media ignorance by now being a clone fan.

Yeah that is pretty bad considering he was the player of the year for the best conference in the nation. Was it hassel just trying to troll ISU fans?

Ehh...I'm beyond it at this point. If people still can't pronounce it, it means there are people out there still not doing their homework...and Fred will always do his and make sure the boys do theirs...so we'll catch 'em sleeping at times. I think the conference knows us, but we still might catch some sleeping in the big dance.

Ejim is a somewhat common Nigerian name. According to a friend of mine from Nigeria, "eeJim" is actually the correct pronunciation.

Naz always says eeeJim instead of edge'um. No one else on the team does. I'm very curious why.

Ever notice the announcers emphasize the first syllable of Niang's last name? It sounds like they're saying "Kneeeee-yang." That's one thing that's always annoyed me.

Eee-jim is correct. I know a guy with that name, and that's he says it.

That may be correct, but if Mel Mel pronounces his name Edge-um, then THAT IS the correct way - don't tick him off, he'll dunk on you!!

I have heard Melvin through media say himself it really is supposed to be pronounced Eeejim but he doesn't particularly care if his name is pronounced either way. However, it is also true that the media guide declares it is pronounced EDGE-um. It's easy to see how this can get confusing.

As long as their names keep getting mentioned, I don't care how they say it.

Kane pronounced it EEgum in his interview the other night as well.

Melvin doesn't care how it's pronounced ("as long as it's being said", as someone else mentioned), so I propose that neither should we.

Never understood why anyone gets upset when their name is mispronounced (let along someone else's). My name has been mispronounced approximately 95% of the time in my life and I don't think it's ever bothered me once.

If people wanted their name pronounced correctly, they'd spell them phonetically like Spanish.

So, it would appear that "Ee-jum" is sort of an "insider" way to pronounce his name. If anything, we should criticize the announcers for not using what is in the media guide and/or trying to pretend like they are close to him. Now, for us as several thousand of his closest fans, we should feel free to call him "Ee-jum!"

Kinda like that commentator who called Fred Hoi-Borg. I mean he may be half man - half machine but I don't think that's what the commentator was getting at..
