Based on how a coach does once they leave the Hawks, Lickliter might be a pretty good bet for Iowa State. Just look at Alford, Davis, Olson etc.

Alford looks like a keeper at this point. He has a great team out West. See them below. They can ball.

If my only two options came down to keeping McDermott or hiring Lickliter, I think I'd rather hold onto McDermott. While McDermott has shown not a single shred of ability to win here at ISU, Iowa is an even bigger disaster. We at least had SOME hope of turning this ship around going into year 4 - the only reason why Iowa has any hope going into year 4 is because there won't be a year 4.

That being said, if there was a third option, I'd probably go with that by default.
