Marvin Clark

Eh. There's better players out there. Get this Niagra kid to come in and be our starting SG next year and find a guard transfer to sit out the year and we're set.

I think that tweet, even though I posted it, maybe a little mis-leading as to the timing. Here is some more info from the Sunrise Hoops Facebook page, linked by Clark:

We play Prime Prep out of Dallas,Texas this Saturday March 8th at Newman University at 2p.m. Dusan Ristic and Marvin Clark will announce their college decision prior to the games! Please share and retweet as we will need all Buffalo fans out to support.

So, obviously, the announcement is going to have to take place earlier than 2 p.m. if the game starts at 2 p.m. From the Facebook page, it really is kind of impossible to tell what time the announcement will be made, but I doubt they are just going to announce it right before tip-off from the locker room or something but maybe they will. Just have to keep watching.

I don't necessarily know why it would matter whether we are playing at that time either as the coach who gets the commitment will probably know before he announces.

i love when players announce when they'll decide before they even do all their visits. uh, pretty obvious they've already decided.

Clark's on his final visit right now and he's not coming to ISU.

hey can we do a quick roll call and make sure every member on CF has chimed in to say he's not coming? I mean...lets all make sure we note it....

Not that I've ever read too much into this guy, but it stings to lose another one (In all probability) I bet if you would have told this board at the time Custer signed that he would be our last HS guy to sign in over 1 and 1/2 years, majority would have called you crazy. Myself included. I hate being the pessimist, but in this situation, I don't see how it can be a good thing.

We've been recruiting him for like 2 months. It won't sting that badly for me, if any at all. It's nothing compared to what we just went through.

I agree. CFH and staff spent countless hours on Vaughn, not as much on others but I'm waiting for that next high school kid that wants to come here and be a Cyclone. I guess if I didn't read these posts every other minute I would be just fine. CFH can flat out coach so we'll just have to wait and see when the magic takes over again next year.

You do realize that Fred could fill his recruiting classes up every year with high school guys if he wanted too. Right? Let that sink in. Heck, Gilbert High probably has a few that would sign tomorrow.

The level of high school recruit we are going after elicits stiff competition. It is what it is. We aren't going after scrubs with only mid major offers. It doesn't matter whether or not it's been over 1 1/2 years since we signed a high school guy. That makes no difference at all.

Fred swings for the fences on the high school talent and back fills with proven Juco or D1 transfers. I'm ok with that because it seems to be working quite well.

Only been 4 months since we've signed a HS kid, he couldn't sign til Nov.

Our only miss is Vaughn, who we were pretty sure we would get and things changed late in the process.

It seems pretty obviously the last scholarship was to be used for a transfer.

Clark hasn't chosen yet and it's not like we wasted a lot of effort in his recruitment. Not expecting him to pick ISU but we've seen worse days than adding two 4* players and another high level transfer.

I was bummed about Vaughn but I M not to concerned overall. Fred gets talent, if we miss here, we will find someone good. No big deal IMO.

I'm with you. The Vaughn deal sucks, but you'll have that when going after that caliber of recruit. I'd rather we go after talented players rather than the "sure thing" mid major project types.

This board was kinda "meh" when we got Hogue... but I'd rather have a guy like him than a Railey type freshmen any day of the week. Of course hind sight is 20/20 but Hogue turned out to be better for us than ANY non top 100 freshmen could have... in reality.
