And this...

Cindy Story, dressed in a Cowboy orange jersey, mulled it over in the Jack Trick Stadium parking lot Friday before the Iowa State football team did its best to ruin Oklahoma State’s national championship dreams before falling short 37-31 in two overtimes.

It's like Hansen prepared this story earlier today and some intern just stuck in the score later on...and now it doesn't fit at all.

The paragraph has already been changed to read this:

"It might have been the best victory in Iowa State history. But even an Oklahoma State win would have done nothing to bring back the two coaches who died in a plane crash the day before."

A third grader could write for the DMR and do a better job. I do love how this team just keeps getting written off, though. It's hilarious!

Umm.... The Register has a Hansen column up right now that looks like it was written before the game, and assumed Okie State won. Here's a paragraph:

"It might have been the best game Iowa State ever lost. The Cyclones looked more than bowl worthy. But Oklahoma State’s victory did nothing to bring back the two coaches who died in a plane crash the day before."

He must have edited, because that is not what it says now.

WTF????? Why did he write that???

Still, what a hack. I can't believe how much the quality of this paper has diminished in the last decade.

LMAO, hilarious. I wish I had a printed version. What was that old newspaper presidential election headline? DEWEY WINS!, this would be better, imo. Even better than my picture on the All state team from the late 80s.

lulz. Funny stuff. Can't blame him for already having written his column before the game, but don't freaking post it until its edited for crying out loud.

I've only had a Sunday subscription for a couple of years, It will now be canceled. Not like I read anything but the comics anyway.

It's very obvious he didn't watch the game. He's the Register's main sports columnist, he didn't watch the game, he assumed the Cyclones lost, and he wrote that they lost in his column. That is beyond pathetic. The man should lose his job. What an insult to Cyclone fans everywhere.

I think it's funny if you read Andrew Logue's article too on the game. You know how stories begin with the end first. He does that and noted we won. Then in stories they usually recap things at the end of the story.

It's like he kept the recap of the game he wrote before the 4th quarter in tact in his story. Makes it sound like we came up short. Probably just didn't want to redo his story.

CYCLONE STUNNER! Iowa State knocks off No. 2 Oklahoma State | The Des Moines Register | DesMoinesRegister.com

The Cyclones were in a reflective mood as 19 seniors participated in their final home game.

Rhoads predicted that Iowa State would have to give a spotless effort.

It became apparent early the Cyclones would not.

An early scoring opportunity was squandered when Zach Guyer missed a 34-yard field goal. Receivers dropped a total of five passes in the first quarter, while Barnett over threw a handful of open targets.

The Cowboys turned an Iowa State miscue into the first touchdown.

Barnett threw a sideline pass without looking off the defensive backs. Shaun Lewis intercepted it and raced 70 yards to the end zone.

The Cyclones outgained Oklahoma State 138 yards to 80 in the first quarter – and trailed 7-0.

From that point, the Cowboys’ offense took over.
