Manny is a Dodger

McCourt took a lot of heat from Dodger fans but he waited Boras out and got what's a decent deal for both parties. Still too much money, but Manny generates a lot of money. 2 years at $45 million spread out over 5 years at no interest, and Manny can try the free agent market next year if he wants ( and woulnd't get paid the $20 million for the second year if he leaves).

Once again, Boras overplayed his hand and assumed the market for Manny was bigger than it ended up being. Just like with A-Rod 2 years ago. McCourt could have waited until opening day if he had wanted to.

I'm pretty excited to have Manny back in the blue. Starting pitching and the bullpen will be our issues this year. I don't think Brox is ready for the closer spot, but that's where he'll be. We'll also miss Lowe, Park, and to some extent Penny. A rotation of Billingsley, Kuroda, Wolf, Kershaw, and Schmidt/McDonald/Stults isn't exactly great. We'll need a big year from Kershaw and our 5th starter has got to give us something.

My projected lineup for the Dodgers:

Furcal SS
Hudson 2B
Ethier RF
Manny LF
Kemp CF
Loney 1B
Martin C
Blake 3B
Pitcher

Agree, I like our everyday lineup but another good starting pitcher would help. I think the Dodgers watch the health of the 4 expected starters and see if McDonald, Schmidt, or a couple of others step up this spring, and if not, try to trade Pierre and a prospect for another starting pitcher.

Stacked lineup for an NL team. Speed, power, youth...can't wait to see what Manny will do in a full season. Hope Furcal stays healthy too.

I think pitching will be fine. If Schmidt is finally able to throw some innings, and Wolf is solid, with CB, CK and Kuroda, we have our starting 5. Bullpen is always solid. Can't wait for the season!

It wasn't the exact same deal. It sounds like there is less deferred money in this one.

Its about time. I was getting tired of espn talking about this. At least he didnt go to the cardinals:wink:
