My apologies for the length of this post, but wanted to share:

Was curious as to the types of players Mangino brought in to KU during his successful run there, so off I went to scour Rivals. I did not include any other recruit ratings services and I am definitely not in either camp that ratings are all that matter / do not matter at all (although what I am about to share would support the latter - times have changed in the past 10 years on recruiting services but that is for another thread), but I think it shows how proficient Mangino & his staff were at evaluating talent, molding & developing talent, and coaching up players. It also supports the premise of doing more with less, which I think he echoed during his introductory press conference.

Mangino's highest rated recruits (rating # if available & star rating) on the offensive side of the ball during the best part of KU's run (leading up to 2008) are as follows (Interesting to note is his highest rated recruits were most often defensive players, but I did not include as i was focusing on offense beings he is our new OC):

QBs: T Reesing 5.5 3*, K Meier 5.6 3* (became WR), M Herford 5.5 3*, J Swanson 3*
RBs: J Sharp 5.6 3*, G Green II 5.7 3*, A Quigley 5.7 3*, D Bean 5.6 3*
WRs: D Briscoe 5.5 3*, R Pendleton 5.5 3*, T Ingram 5.5 3*
TEs: J Bell 5.6 3*, B DeDeaux 5.5 3*, M Jones 3*
OL: C Hartley 5.6 3*, T Haselhorst 5.6 3*, I Wolf 5.6 3*

Some of KUs best players not included above:
Brandon McAnderson 3* as Linebacker - was best RB in Mangino's tenure @ KU
Dexton Fields 2* WR
Derek Fine 2* TE
Aqib Talib 5.4 2* CB/WR
Marcus Henry NR WR

It was difficult to find much information on Marcus Henry. He did not show up as a commit in the Rivals listing. Did finally find his Rivals profile:
Marcus Henry - Yahoo! Sports

I was still intrigued, so after a little digging I came across this article about Marcus Henry and how he came to KU. He definitely blew up late in the process:

Looking at what we have at ISU for current players and with our new coaches, I can't help but think we could be quite a bit better in a short amount of time.
