For those using the "It's not fair Mac(Dan) was pushed out because he had so much character, and Mac(Greg) gets to stay because of his character," are forgetting how much time was given to Dan.

Dan did not have success until year 6.

1995 3-8
1996 2-9
1997 1-10
1998 3-8
1999 4-7
2000 9-3:smile:
So with that should Greg get 2 more years? I don't know. I am really not even sure what my point is. I am just very frustrated with how the season went and I'm trying to find some hope. I just don't think the Mac vs. Mac arguement is a good one. And if it is, we should should have hope because we will be in the sweet 16 two years from now.

You know, not the best comparison. A football team has close to a 100 players while a basketball has less than 20. Basketball teams can change at a much quicker pace.

This was discussed yesterday. However, I did not notice yesterday that DMac actually had a worse record every year for the first three years. I think all of us who were around then kind of gave him a pass during those years because of what Troy Davis was doing on the field. We didn't win many games, but Troy sure racked up the yardage those first two years and it was just fun to see how many yards he would gain on any given day.

Hey, we can sure rack up the turnovers.

Theres also a big difference in what Dmac walked into compared to what Gmac walked into.

Also, in year 4, Dmac started beating Iowa, no small achievement considering it hadnt been done in forever at that point. Theres a portion of our fanbase that would be fine with a 1-11 (or 1-10 back then) season as long as that 1 was Iowa.

It's a pretty unfair comparison for Dan. Actually, it's not even comparable between what DMac walked into and what GMac walked into. The tradition, facilities, talent, etc.
