Lights on University Blvd

While sitting in the grass lot by Hilton listening to the post game wrap up on the radio, we wondered why the street lights on University Blvd kept going off and then after a couple of minutes, come back on. Looks like this would clearly be a safety issue with all the vehicles trying to leave, pedestrians and bikers trying to cross the street, and the traffic directors themselves being out there in the intersection. Someone is going to get run over! What is going on!?!

I would guess it's sensors that tell whether it's day or night. I wonder if they get affected by the stadium lights.
