Actually he has had brain surgery previously, involving a cyst in his head that had to be drained when it was giving him migraine issues back in 2001 while coaching OSU. He also had a mysterious trip to the hospital at the request of his athletics department staff in 2015 while at LSU. He was fired almost precisely one year later.

For the record, weight gain, unsteadiness, and sedation are common side effects for many migraine meds.

This would make sense. But still, he is going to be inhibited as a coach if he has such struggles in communication (and perhaps even in thinking).

As someone with a close friend on migraine meds, I mention that only in the context of others suggesting he potentially has a brain injury, or more serious issue.

Getting treatment for headaches should not preclude anyone from being a successful football coach. It's coaching at Kansas that usually does that.

I have a feeling he's lost what he once had and has nowhere near the athletes or support he had at LSU when he succeeded.

Check out item number 6 - Kansas was lucky last season and is likely to regress, despite Miles' best efforts. Basically they got way more turnovers than expected last year, which is not sustainable and helping them punch up to 3 - 9.
