Ok, I'll admit I'm slightly biased but could the White Sox have both the MVP and the ROY this year?

I know Josh Hamilton has awesome #s right now but Carlos Quinten has really meant more to the Sox this year than any other AL player that I can think of. 4 more RBIs last night and leading the AL in HRs. If the Sox make the playoffs and he continues what he's doing now he has a great shot at the award.

Alexei Ramirez came out of nowhere and Kenny Williams is a freakin' genius for finding him and signing him. He probably weighs 150 pounds but has great bat speed and hits the ball hard and can hit home runs. Leading all AL rookies in batting ave. right now and if anyone saw the play he made last week against Texas that Karl Ravach said was most likely the Web Gem of the year, you know that he's pretty good in the field too.

Whad'yall think?

I'm going to get roasted for this but the leader for MVP has to be either a) K-Rod or b) A-Rod. K-Rod is on pace to set the major league record for saves in a season and has helped his team to the best record in the majors. Yes the pitchers have the Cy Young, but it's arguable that K-Rod has won 10 games for them pitching out of crappy situations. A-Rod is a contender every year and I believe is leading the league in BA, 5th in home runs, etc. while missing part of the season due to being on the DL.

Rookie of the year: Ramirez, Quinten, Hamilton, and Dustin Pedroia can all make their cases.

ROY? Helloo McFly?!?!? Evan Longoria!?!?

Not to take anything away from the guys listed above. I don't think Quinten, Hamilton, or Pedroia would be eligible for ROY. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have to say
1. Josh Hamilton or K-Rod, really depends on your preference, IMO, Hamilton.
2. Longoria.

Add another vote for Longoria and K-Rod, although it pains me to vote for K-Rod since I hate the Angels.

K-Rod? He is used every other game and pitches an inning usually. No way a relief pitcher wins MVP. Maybe Quentin or Hamilton. ROY goes to Longoria, Ramirez is coming on strong but I have to give the nod to Longoria

I know Pedroia is...they talk about it everytime Boston is on ESPN. He didn't play enough games last year.

I'd have to go with K-rod...he's a freak and when he blows away the saves record by 10 or so saves its going to be nuts. No way the Angels are where they are now without him...it's gotta be 100 pounds off your back knowing going into the 9th up 1 or 2 runs that you will win 98% of the time.

K-Rod for MVP? Seriously? That's a pretty big honor for a guy who hasn't pitched more than an inning in any appearance. Saves aren't that meaningful of a statistic.

Except for the fact that his team has the best record in the majors due to his insane number of saves.:skeptical: Saves = wins

Oh, and did I forget to mention he has a 2.47 ERA, 49 Ks in 47.1 innings pitched, 44 saves vs 3 blown saves (93.6% success rate), and a WHIP of 1.25.

K-Rod's WHIP isn't that good for a guy who's only thrown 47 innings. In fact it's only slightly better than his career high WHIP last year. Don't get me wrong, K-Rod is having a great year, maybe Cy Young-worthy. But a reliever would have to blow me away before I'd think he's MVP-worthy, and K-Rod isn't doing that.

K-Rod winning the MVP would make a mockery of the award. He isn't even the best closer in baseball this year. Save totals do not equal best closer. Very overrated statistic.

Joe Borowski led the league in saves a year or two ago, for Christ's sake.

MVP will be Hamilton, unless the Sox make the playoffs, then it could very well be Quentin or Dye
ROY will be Longoria
Cy Young will be K Rod, Nathan deserves second, but will get third behind Cliff Lee.

I don't think K-Rod even deserves the Cy Young. Saves are about as good of a stat as wins by a starter. For reference K-Rod has an ERA of 2.47 and WHIP of 1.25, while Mariano Rivera has a ERA of 1.17 and WHIP of 0.67 and Joe Nathan has an ERA of 1.05 and WHIP of 0.91. K-Rod is very good and not trying to say he's not, but having that many saves is about opportunities more than anything.

K Rod has 44 saves and is ahead of everyone in Fantasy Baseball including Lance Berkman - 541 points so far. Not close so far.
