Lawn advice after plumbing work

So I had a plumbing line in my lawn replaced last December after it started leaking. Now I have a hump in my yard that is dirt. Does anyone have any experience with this and know how long it will take to settle and should I plant grass seed on it now or wait until it settles down? I really don't know if the amount of dirt that is currently on it is too much or too little. The plumbing people that replaced the pipe just backfill and do not do any landscaping. Its only from my sidewalk to the street, so about 10 feet or so. Thank you!

I would have a landscape company take a look at it and give you a quote. If the holes isn't filled/packed correctly the spot will just keep settling over time.

If as you say nonprofessionals filled it I would say a hump is better than level because it is definitely going to settle and then you would have a big old swale there.

Assuming this was backfilled with frozen soil than it's not surprising it was not backfilled perfectly level. Thinking if you grade it level you might end up with a little dip after it settles over time. You could saturate it with water* and see if it settles before you just go level it off.

* Don't freak out civil engineers, this is landscaping not structural fill!

Take a pipe that is open on one end and connect to a garden hose and then probe the pipe into the ground and run water, that will force it to settle faster.
