Does anyone know the status of Dendy? From the PC it sounds like McD said it was similar to his last injury.

Mac said his knee was tighter than last time and they'd know more tomorrow. Seeing him limp around the place while watching the NU/ND game didn't look too promising.

I hope that he gets some rest with it rather than having it linger. We will need him as healthy as possible for the Cal game and beyond.

on the radio show after the game mac said that he tweaked it. Said that it was swollen a little, but it was 'structurally' sound. He said it is WAY better than what happened the first time and that he is questionable for tomorrow...But if he doesn't play that the down time is not going to be nearly as long as it just was.

Swelling is somewhat natural for the first time going hard on it in a while...came down on it odd...probably going to be play it safe for a while.

That's good. We'll need him later and as healthy as possible. I just feel bad for him not getting to play and for our team to build more game rapport with him in the rotation.

Good teams overcome injuries. Good to see JVB step it up in his absence. Just hope this doesn't carry over to next season because we're gonna need him.

Was at the st. louis game last night, Dendy looked perfect in warmups, I even said to the guy next to me that he looks like he did two weeks ago when he was 100%. he was running hard, nothing appeared wrong with him whatsoever while in the game. I believe he went up for a rebound against two St. Louis players and came down on it kinda awkward, I didn't really see how it happened I just saw the end result which was him limping to the bench. He limped off at half on his own power and then back on after half. At the end of the game after the handshake he appeared to be limping just as bad as when he re-hurt it originally in the 1st half. My guess would be that he will not play tonight, the earliest we may see him is maybe Cal? I assume they will play this as conservatively as possible as to not have this turn into an on again off again thing. Did dendy come back to the line up too soon? I don't think so, IMO this was a freak thing and he just happened to come down on his recently recovered Knee in a bad way. I would rather him take an extended leave of absence and come back at 100% for big 12 play then try to rush back only to hurt himself more. this kid is talented and we need him in our line up, but we certainly don't want him playing at half strength and risking a bigger injury than a sprain.

JVB=MVP of the game in my opinion.

for a big guy, he can stroke the three!!! offensively I would tend to agree with you here he played extremely well at that end of the court, but he was getting pounded in the paint defensively. and when I say pounded, I mean curb stomped. he's just slow on D for some reason and cannot move quick enough under the hoop to get position on guys, hence the 10 dunks or whatever St. Louis got last night (same story for JH at that end). weren't the majority of their points in the paint?? it seemed like it anyway.

I think I would prefer to see him sit it out a couple weeks and get it completely healthy. It would be nice to have him against Cal, but the Bradley game seems about right to me. That would give him a couple games to get back up to speed before Duke (where we'll really need him) and the Big 12 season.

Most of the dunks were when Brackins was guarding Reed last night. In the second half, JVB guarded him most of the time and slowed him considerably. Reed was very active around the glass and really seemed to give Brackins alot of problems. Brackins seemed to put up some uncharacteristic shots. JVB is key off the bench.

I really don't think we brought Dendy back to soon. As many have mentioned, he looked as close to 100% out there as you can be before he re-injured it.

The fact is... we are ISU... and if any kind of bad luck can happen to GMac it will, and it has.

I still believe we can be a NCAA tourney team without Dendy, but with Dendy I think we could be special. And by special I mean sweet sixteen kind of special. He provides something that nobody else on our roster does IMO. He's very energetic, long, runs the floor, blocks shots, and gets tons of hustle rebounds. And he gives us great depth inside.

Without Dendy, our options down low are limited. Gilstrap is forced to play the 4 spot at times. I just hope Dendy makes it back.

What if it is determined that Dendy will miss a 2-3 months with this injury? Could we choose to sit him the rest of the year and still get a redshirt for him?

So Gmac says he is day to day and we are talking about getting him a medical redshirt for the season? Talk about pessimistic...

I don't want to be pessimistic, but this is a knee that kept Dendy from even playing last year in JUCO. And now he's injured it twice already in just a handful of games this year.

Is it unrealistic to think that this knee might be a nagging injury the rest of the season?

Do we want a LaRon Dendy playing all year at 70% of his capability, or would we rather RS him and have him at 100% for two more years? That is a fair question to ask IMO. You might call it pessimistic, I call it realistic. It's not like last night was the first time it's caused him problems.

Also... does the name Wesley Johnson ring a bell? He played on a bum leg all year long for us and wasn't the same player at all. And then at the end of the year, he wished he would have been redshirted and quit. This year, we are seeing what a healthy Wesley Johnson can do. He's putting up nearly 30 a game at Syracuse.

I knew this was going to happen i watched dendy in juco i went to indian hills for 2 years and he never made it a whole season. he is very very injury prone so everyone should just get used to not seeing him... he will prolly give us half a season regardless if we wait anyway

That's what I'm afraid of.

Dendy was a BIG TIME recruit nationally out of high school, went the JUCO route because of academics, then got hurt at JUCO, and has been looked at as "damaged goods" ever since by most schools.

GMac took a chance on him, and thus far, it's been a risk-reward type acquisition. He's very good when healthy, but how often will he truly be "healthy" for us? He was a high risk from a health standpoint when we got him, and GMac was hoping he'd stay healthy. We'll have to see how it eventually pans out, but I'm not too hopeful that he will ever help us like we had hoped he would?

Time for medical redshirt and work with a GOOD personal trainer/doctor who knows injury prevention techniques very well? Or a few weeks off with that if it's not as serious..?
