I’m sure they’ve got good preparation for Miami. One thing Coach Larranga for Miami is good at is making in-game defensive changes on the fly. He did so with their “scramble” defense against Auburn. Going to be a helluva battle..

A team that ranks 6th nationally in creating turnovers but 121st in defensive efficiency suggests to me that they must gamble a lot on defense.

If we can avoid turning the ball over, it will hurt them on both ends of the floor and our chances moving onto the Elite 8 will be good.

I read that to mean Miami ranks 6th nationally in turnover rate offensively. So hard to turn them over. But maybe I’m wrong.

Either way, no live ball turnovers by the Clones please. I really like our chances if we don’t give them easy buckets. It is hard to grind with Big 12 teams. Physically toughest conference by a mile.

Key to beating Miami is not turning it over and giving them easy points. And hitting the boards because they aren't a good rebounding team. Probably a lot of opportunity for back cuts against these guys.

McGusty is 1-3 against us and had some decent games against us when he was with Oklahoma. I remember thinking he was a solid player.

That being said, he also played against Monte and Thomas in case anyone needs some perspective to how long he's been playing college ball. They have been in the NBA since 2017.

They rank 6th in turnovers, not creating turnovers. Meaning they don't turn it over much. Basically, good offense, bad defense.

Miami ranks 57th nationally in opponent turnovers forced/possession. They are not elite at turning teams over (like ISU is, ranked 4th in the nation), but good enough to punish lazy passes and bad offensive execution.

Well that's scary....I'm always begging for us to do that more often than we ever do, especially when they overplay IB. Maybe Gabe could benefit from that.

why wasn't it asked when his son is announcing his transfer to ames iowa?

im sure his wife is ready to move to ames and they can all be under the same roof again and watch aj play in hilton.

gonna be fun times.

I really like our chances in a rock fight. Thinking the crowd in Chicago will he pro-ISU.
Yeah I assume KU fans will cheer for Iowa State since we are a known commodity to them if we face them in the E8. However, I also thought in KC this year the KU fans would cheer for ISU against Tech and all them around me were pro Tech.

Not all turnovers are created equal. Miami ranks 10th in kenpom defensive steal % which is elite. Preventing live ball turnovers is the key to the game.

I had never heard of this stat nerd but it was mentioned in the Transfer thread. Evanmiya.com has ISU a half point better at 67.3 - 66.7. I don't care what the score is as long as we have more points, but a final in the 60's should favor ISU.
