Well, the first one involves a low-life, underachiever that through what can only be described as fate, gets thrown into the altercation of a lifetime and gains the respect of peers and a new lover in the process. It truly is a coming of age tale.
The second one follows pretty much the same plot, but the protagonist's newfound lover becomes incredibly fearful of all the training and altercations that are occuring. This subplot continues to develop throughout the series and really gets annoying.
In the third, the antagonist from the first two films becomes an accomplice of the protagonist and spends valuable time on the beach, training the main character and improving skills, speed and agility before ultimately avenging the loss of a dear friend and then the protagonist and the new accomplice share a special moment at the end.
The fourth film is widely regarded as the best as it incorporates a Russian a-hole. This really thickens the plot and things get...well, juicy. Considering the time it was released, historically it's a representation of what happens when good triumps over evil.
The fith is pretty blah and not even worth your time.
