Kicking Game

I had thought about this as well. Netten had by far his best year after this staff came in and now Owens is also kicking the best ever in his life. Can't just be a coincidence?

Owens is solid. I noted this in a previous thread, my ISU-fan superstitious side makes me hesitant to draw too much attention, but realistically, he deserves credit.

Also, Francis has been good with kickoffs. ---- anyone have the % for touchbacks this season?

Francis is special. I noticed that last year when almost all of his kicks went through the endzone.

The only consistent glaring weakness I can see is the return game. A combination of offense (bad vs Texas), defense (bad at times vs Iowa), and the kicking portion of special team said have all been good enough in every game we've played so far to win. But need a return game to help flip the field position when one side of the ball is struggling.

Such a refreshing change from the 2000s, when our kicking game was so suspect it cost us division titles.

Return-game has been underwhelming, at least compared to place-kicking, kickoffs and punting, but I have a feeling Ryen is going to break a few this season on PR. ... Not sure about K-returns, several opponents so far have been touchback-able (notably Iowa and OU).

Downing, Francis, and Owens have all been solid.

Those three FGs that Owens hit were all just right down the center also.

One thing I've noticed about Francis is that even when his kicks don't go through the end zone, they are towering and allow the coverage team time to make up ground.
