Kevin Warren moves on from B1G

You can cross any white males off the list. Only a female or minority candidate will satisfy the university presidents.
Not sure about that, I think it's going to come down to whether they want a slick high-level ESPN/FOX media exec or someone a little more closely tied to academia. I don't think most current presidents were fans of Warren. Phillips is an academic dude, Ph.D. in education administration, I could see them leaning that way but who knows.

I think that is exactly why they DIDN'T go to 20. ND was the key and they couldn't be got. Grabbing USCLA made sense on its own, and added leverage to get ND (though not enough in the end) .

I think Warren is right and the Big10 has to add more than just USC & UCLA.

Maybe the timing wasn't right, but at some point the Big10 will need to add 2-4 more teams from the west coast. USC & UCLA have solid brands and they aren't maximized by playing Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, etc. IMO their value is higher from a TV standpoint by playing midwest schools & Oregon, Washington, Stanford, etc.

Several QBs have crap to throw to, but they still contribute in the passing game way more than Fields. Fields' value is almost all legs at this point. Fields ranks almost dead last on an EPA basis in the passing game. Only something called a Baker Mayfield has been worse out of all qualified QBs.
Not to derail this but I legit can’t think of a single franchise that when healthy has worse players to throw to then the bears. Maybe Houston or Tenn but even then it’s close and I would still say the bears.

Herby almost slipped on his lotion in the booth during the title game equating TCU’s blowout to a narrative that the Big 12 and PAC can’t hang with the SEC and the B1G.

Michigan got dogwalked by UGA in the CFP last season and lost to TCU a few weeks ago. The B1G isn’t what they think they are. Influence and $ will get more of their teams in the expanded playoff. I don’t see them winning a title outside Columbus anytime soon.
I was almost at the point where I tolerated Herbstreit. Then I heard him blurting that garbage, and it was over.

Herbsreit has really went down hill the last few years. Very bland as an NFL analyst. Not entertaining on Gameday especially compared to McAfee.

Phillips is the anti-Yormark!

Warren played him hard with the playoff stuff. Seems more like a minnow vs the shark that the Big 10 is
He was a front runner for the B1G commish last time. Not sure why there was the late left turn to pick Warren, but Phillips checks a lot of boxes and was popular among presidents. Anyone in that spot with the ACC and PAC was pretty much at the B1G's mercy with the alliance thing, it's not like he was in a position of power after the SEC announced OuT.
