It's fortunate he didn't hurt someone else by running the red light at a high rate of speed.
Speeding and ran a red light before hitting a truck and losing control. Also wasn't wearing a seat belt, but that only affects him.
Probably referring to:
"Clarke was traveling at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light, hit another car turning left, and continued on to then hit a pole and block wall. Police say Clarke was not wearing his seatbelt properly."
Other driver was uninjured. Still, a tragedy.
Me and some of my friends from high school are lucky to have survived some of the dumb **** we did in vehicles at a similar age.
Unless someone else was in the car.
Sad deal...I see all sorts of driving behavior that could easily result in similar.
Part of the culture of rural Iowa and rock roads is truly astounding when I think back on it.
You must have missed the 25,000 post covid mask vs personal freedom threads. Let's just summarize and say different opinions exist on whether wearing a seat belt impacts society or not.
There's all sorts of videos showing people getting thrown around cars including smaller/less impactful collisions. Could easily at the very least injure another occupant.
Now someone by themselves--have at it. That fits in the selfie off a cliff/biking with no helmet category of Darwinism.
Sad, sad deal. From all accounts was a good, likeable kid who was thought highly of by those who knew him.
As for the accident, I'd like to meet a 19 year old who didn't act with a false sense of invincibility. I sure know I did.
