Keep Coach McDermott!

At this point even the diehard standouts (I include myself in this group) have to accept that something is going very wrong with our basketball program, and as more time goes by the number of places you can point fingers is quickly disappearing.

Hell, at this point, even KG has to accept that something is amiss. doesn't he? speaking of, where has he been hiding the past few days......?

I was behind Mac getting it done and felt he good. Problem is a trend continued since we lost to Baylor a decade ago. Losing.

He had the pieces in place this year for a much better record. He failed.

and while we're wallowing and continue to see our bball program implode, mizzou continues to build their program with a top 10 recruiting class. so depressing. go away greg.

Honest question:

If we did happen to fire him, is there anyway we could end up in some kind of arbitration to determine what we actually fairly owe him? It seems like you see this is pro sports, where an athlete believes their play warrants more money and it goes to an arbitrator to see what would be fair...I just wondered if it could go the other way.

Absolutely and I've raised this point before. I actually just posted a thread yesterday that addressed this happening at another school. (Seton Hall)

KG and CIMD usually hide after things like this happen. Wait a few weeks and try to bring some good news to cheer us up. Yay... can't wait

Let's face the facts, we have a highly sought after coach in Greg McDermott. He will be our coach next year, and with success, for several years to come. To suggest we change coaches now flies in the face of logic.
-recruiting is done for the year
-after next season, a huge recruiting class will be available to recruit
-financial considerations point toward the need to keep Coach
-time to support the Coach and look forward to next year.

I'm thinking it may be better just to fire him, scrap the program for a year or 2, then start back up as a JV program for a couple years. Then there is something to hire a new coach on...building his own program.
*I started to type that with every intention of using the sarcasm pirate at the end, but by the time I got done, I convinced myself that this solution may be the fastest way to getting ISU back to a relavent program

I'll never concede to defeat and accept it.

Question for the OP - How hard were you laughing when you typed this or how much had you drank? Do you enjoy train wrecks and look for natural disasters as entertainment? GMAC is a hell of a person and we all hoped for the best, but there is WAY TOO MUCH evidence showing this isn't happening!!!

IF we are going to be as bad as many think, wouldn't it make sense to let Coach M coach the pot he made? Any new coach would not even have a chance to bring in ANY of his own players. AND if he's as bad as some say, he may well be more willing to negioate out after that kind of a season.

A statement of commitment to the basketball program needs to be made. Allowing this trainwreck to continue shows a general disinterest towards the well being of our program, and only furthers our spiral towards becoming completley irrelevant.

I like coach mac but he has shown that he isn't a good fit at isu. but we are left to ponder what could have been? what if blalock and stinson had stayed for their senior years? what if the big roster turnover wouldntve happened? what if lucca staiger stayed? how about if gilstrap got another year or brackins stayed for his senior year? if christopherson wouldntve gotten mono or boozer and vandy didn't get hurt? or if our point guard play showed up all year like it did in the kstate game? all these are best case, but what had happened in macs tenure that was best case, other than brackins staying? I wish he could turn it around, but I can face it that there is a large chance that will not happen

Dear god please give us negative rep back

This is like saying "meh, brain cancer is not that bad, I wish I had some more"

If he is still coach after next season, I will never watch ISU basketball as long as JP is still the AD and I am a fan of JP. This team is going to really bad next season. If you can't see that, you are in denial. With the team we have now, I will be shocked if they win 10 games.

Isn't GMAC's Big 12 record at ISU 18-46?......so after next year he could be 20-60 or as he's been averaging after the last three seasons (4-12) 22-58. Pretty sad his best record in conference play has been his first season,....but that wasn't his "real" first season, right? Pathetic.

you must be joking? the kids, i can morally support, but the time on this joke has run out

If this is sarcasm, I love it. If not, then you need to lay down the crack pipe.
Is it possible that ISU recognizes a great coach in Paul R. and will pump all funds towards FB and just abandon BB. That may be the only explanation for what is transpiring
