I'm headed to KC this weekend for my daughter's softball tournament and I'm looking for a place to watch the football game. I know Kelly's has a game watch, but is that place kid friendly? I will have an 11 and 7 year old with me. I see The Other Place and Brookside Bar and Grill are also listed as possible game watch spots. Since I haven't been to Kelly's before, I would love to go, but have to keep the kids and wife in mind:)

Yea Kelly's probably isn't the best then. I would go to the Other Place in Overland Park. Its in the middle of old downtown OP so there will be shops they could go to if they wanted. Unless Iowa is playing at the same time, then it will be packed with Iowa fans

OP is probably the best place to go...kid friendly and great food...depending on where your softball tourney is there's also an OP in Olathe...

God forbid, don't go to The Other Place. It sucks and it is a Hawk bar, there is UNI,IOWA, and Drake stuff on the walls but no ISU picutres. I have had the most fun at the Brooksider and TV's are everywhere.

lol ive gone there a lot and there has always been lots of ISU fans there

FWIW - Kelly's is where the ISU Athletic Assn. Gamewatch is for the TCU game, up on the roof. No elevator, only stairs. Kelly's has a built in pizza joint but really no food beyond that. I would agree it's not a kid friendly place and parking is a little tougher but as for ISU-Friendly, it's hard to beat and since it's hosting the official gamewatch there's more likely to be kids there than other times. ISU newspaper articles on the wall and a long history with ISU. It's worth viewing an ISU game there at least once, even if it's not this weekend.

The Brooksider will not be very kid friendly either but the wait staff is good and the food is decent IMHO (try the buffalo chicken salad and if you're not watching your figure get the chicken fried). There was a great ISU contingent there for the Iowa game. Probably won't be quite as many tomorrow. If they will put the game on downstairs that's the place to go. At the Iowa game the upstairs and outside crowd didn't realize the game was on in the basement and there was only eight of us down there. We could hear the TV and didn't have to fight the crowd to the bathroom.

Hope you have a good time in KC. Good luck at the tourney.
