Does anyone have interest in making a day trip down to Manhattan and back from West Des Moines on the 3rd? I have received a quote from Windstar and need about 40 people at $55/person to break even and make it happen. Working on group game tickets tickets as well but don't have them at this time. If it includes ticket I would say the trip will be roughly $100/person.

I might be interested. There could be from 2 - 4 of us. We already have our tickets ordered and were planning on driving so it would just be the bus ride for us.

Having set up a bunch of these sorts of things in my life for other institutions, I would strongly recommend that you get 50% deposits (if not full payment) in advance, only to be refunded if you aren't able to get enough to go. Do some searches on this board and you will find instances where there was lots of initial interest and not-so-much actual follow-through. I love the idea and would encourage you to do it, but have a serious business plan. Don't count on anyone to come through until you have money in hand.

I would also leave people on their own to get tickets. Those that want guaranteed seats in the ISU section can get them from the ISU ticket office. Others can buy tickets from the K-State ticket office, Stub Hub, or other sources. And others can roll the dice and try to get tickets from scalpers. Once you decide to include tickets, you are going to make the cost more expensive, particularly for those who have other means of getting tickets.

Just providing the transportation is a great service. People can sleep on the way down and enjoy their post-game buzzes on the way back without having to worry at all about driving.

Make sure to bring DVDs of the Texas Tech and Oklahoma State games. Maybe through in a road trip t-shirt (and try to get a sponsor to help pay for it and include their logo).

Ok, so it looks like it will be $100/person and we may be joining with the cyclone gridiron club. Plan on leaving at 5:30 sharp from the ridgemont parking lot in urbandale. Price includes trip and game ticket. I will need the full amount by Monday the 28th and will take the first 45 that are paid in full. Any questions can be emailed to me at [email protected]

Not that I don't trust you, but your first 3 posts are all asking for money. Okay, so I'm not the trusting type, but really I wouldn't just send off money and hope to a gmail account.

Understood on the money thing. I am going to talk to Jay from the gridiron club on Friday and more than likely run the trip through them. I had tried to put the trip together on short notice and had no idea on cost so wanted to give a ballpark estimate.

Good point. The OP might want to make himself known to CW or JP of JJ to get an endorsement. I hadn't noticed that this was the OP's first posts. That does seem a bit strange.

"Let the buyer beware," especially when I made such a big deal about getting cash in hand, not just taking people's words that they are going to take the bus. I don't want to play right into someone's scam. The OP needs to prove that he can be trusted. Getting some other CF-ers who know him to verify his legitimacy is probably a very good idea.

Is the bus trip still on? I sent an email last night asking if we could ride the bus without purchasing tickets. We have already purchased ours. We would have 2 - 4 people going.

I can vouch the bus trip is legit and not a scam. I plan on going, just need to get enough people interested. It's hard to believe 40-50 people wouldn't take this offer and that includes the Gridiron Club people.
