I know I'm not the only F1 fan around here. I just saw the funeral for Jules Bianchi was this morning. Terrible tragedy for such a young kid. I was too young to really appreciate Senna when he died so this was pretty horrific to watch the wreck last fall.

Hope he's the last but we all know that it's only a matter of time before there's another freak accident like this.

I was in my 20s when Senna died and he was (and still is) my favorite driver. For 20 years there had been no fatalitites until last year. And that crash was really a freak accident.

Really is a sad story. I was surprised to hear that he passed away from injuries sustained last year. Too bad he had to suffer so long before passing.

In regards to Senna, that documentary they had playing on the Velocity channel last spring to commemorate 20 years since his death was really good. I too was pretty young when he died and didn't remember much so seeing all the background leading up to his death in '94 was incredible. Made me an instant fan. I literally got chills watching that crowd at the Brazilian GP's chanting " oleeee ole ole oleee...Senna, Senna"

Very sad. I was watching live on TV when Senna died, the crash didn't even look bad, similar to Dale E. at Daytona, which also didn't even look bad. I saw Senna race eight times (3 wins), the most amazing was at Phoenix in 1989, the track was horrible overall but there were places a spectator could get to that were right next to the track! I kept walking down the main straight (Jefferson Street) and finally got to a place where everyone was slamming on the brakes, everyone except three drivers who went an extra few feet, Prost, Mansell and Senna who went the farthest before braking.

For those that haven't seen "Senna" the documentary, I highly recommend it, even if you aren't a motorsports fan. It was on Netflix, assuming it still is.

Is Bianchi the guy that crashed into 'tractor' that was lifting an already crashed car, and then went into the wall after hitting that? Or am I thinking of a different driver?

You are thinking of the right incident. He slid off the track and his helmet hit the counterweight of the offroad forklift they were using as a crane to lift a car off the track.

He was basically in a coma for 9 months and then died
