JTS construction webcam?

Jeez, can we finish the current renovations before we start clamoring for more. Pollard has done an amazing job with facilities. By the way, here's the pressbox of a perennial top 10 team in one of the richest cities in America. Seems to work OK for them.

This is a message board... let me dream big.

I honestly don't understand why people are clamoring for an expanded press box simply for aesthetic reasons when there frankly isn't the demand for it. Seems greedy, considering the amount of money we've already invested in the stadium.

Yeah... if we have 30 million or whatever to drop into a press box\suites complex, id find several more places to drop that into pretty easily before id drop it into the press box

Press boxes and ribbon boards. Don't get the excitement for either one.

Press Box only if it generates cash.

Happy media dudes = good PR = cash! Especially when the product on the field isn't so great. We want media talking up our environment, especially while other schools are dropping in attendance or even abandoning stadiums.

Iowa State currently bends over backwards to keep the media happy. They don't need to throw $20 million into a new press box. Cost/benefit is no where close to a win for ISU.

I would love to make the press box 1/2 as tall but 3x as long. That and enclose the NEZ at the height of the Jake balcony. But, with the state af the program, we better be happy with what we have for now. They need to win some freaking games. If they actually start winning, the money will be there for those type of projects. As it is, I'm betting Hilton is next on the facilities list.

If the ribbon board doesn't look incredible at night I will be shocked. The ribbon board brings a new feeling to the stadium that seriously updates jack trice.

It's like the two scoreboards. Although they are nice, they mostly change the perception of the stadium. The second is for viewing from the other end but it more importantly is something many other stadiums do not have.

Welcome to jack trice stadium. Perfect tailgating... rocking video boards... ribbon boards enhancing that....and the possibillity of over 61,000 people bringing the rain.

reap it!

I would make the national media as comfortable as possible. They show isu respect when it is deserved.

I would put the local media in a back room with their Hawkeye underwear yanked above their heads.

The local media will never do that until you have rotated out all of the iowa fans in that group. They go out of their way to give isu bad press. It's done to keep isu down.

They are just as worried as the u of I about isu becoming the biggest university in the state.

Because this is Cyclone Fanatic. We can't have anything nice without ******** all over it first. We make upgrades to JTS that everyone has been clamoring for, for more than 20 years. Now that it's happened, the black clouders have to go find something else to **** on. If they redid the press box next year and it was up to everyone's standards, then they'd probably just move to the grass areas on the North Side and how ****** that looks. How High school stadiums are nicer than ours because they don't have grass hillsides in their stadium. Oh, and we always have the uniforms to ***** about as well.

I can't believe I am actually seeing gripes about the Ribbon Board. I'd imagine it will pay for itself pretty quick with advertising. It just baffles me sometimes what people on here will find to complain about.

"Our stadium isn't big time enough"

"OK, we'll add a video ribbon as well, because that's what all Big time Stadiums are doing as well as get is some more ad dollars."

"That is a stupid waste of money."

Separate out the clone fans from the others and my experience is that there aren't that many clone fans being negative.

That's why I don't get worked up about what some of these posters say. They don't represent isu fans.

Just because people don't agree or share the same perspective as other people doesn't mean they are trolls or aren't true Cyclone fans. It gets really old seeing that no matter how much I may disagree with their perspective.

I do think it comical when rival fans feel like they have to hide behind being fans of another third school - and do it very poorly.

When spending money the AD is doing it right by spending it on things that the various programs need rather than things that would look nice. You can rest assured that the press will show up. You can also rest assured that the bulk of them will ***** about whatever facility, chair, food, access, etc. given to them practically regardless of how nice it is.

I was in Ames this morning and drove to the stadium for a look. It appears they are adding an additional concession stall on the south side of both the east and west concourses. I had somehow missed this feature in the renderings. More food options?

The site was full of vehicles with plenty of activity. Overall things look great.

It comes down to this for me. There are a lot of fans of other teams that have lost the ability to make fun of isu's facilities. Now, the reality is that isu's facilities are better than many of them if not most of them.

So they come at us with "press box." Really? That's all you got...."press box."

That's one heck of a compliment to me.

I like having the third biggest stadium capacity in our conference.

I like having real grass turf.

I like the current uniforms more than the McCarney era.

The big thing with a new pressbox (similar to K-State, Texas Tech, Minnesota, etc.) isn't really the press space, but the Athletic Director's ability to sell more premium space (suites, club seats, loge boxes, etc.) to corporations. Product on the field or not, a business having a presence like that in a venue where 61,000 potential customers are in a confined space can be a very good business decision, and in return, a money-maker for a university, if the commitment is available up front.

Cadillac didn't build their new endzone club at KU because of the product on the field, but rather, to get eyeballs from the 20k in the stadium. Down the road from Lawrence, K-State built their new West Stadium Center (suites, club seats, and press row) because they know they only have a few years left of Snyder and needed to find as many revenue sources as possible to sustain success when he is no longer coaching. Donors lined up once the plan was in place and John Currie began fundraising.
