I just don't understand ISU fans and their mindset on Kirk's discipline. He has been fair and stern throughout his entire career. He metes out in house punishment before the courts have their say, based on judgement criteria. Then after the legal system runs its course, he metes out additional punishments such as suspensions.

In some instances, after he has spoken with the player and when the player admits to the charges against them, he instantly metes out all levels of punishment.

I have been following these instances for every one of Kirk's years at Iowa, far more closely than ISU fans have, and I have found him to be consistent and strong. In recent years, the punishment he has handed out has been more stern than you will find at most football programs with similar offenses. The punishment his son James has received has been very harsh given what he did, at least the first time...the second time, the punishment seemed fitting for a second offense.

When has KF ever come down strong on someone? He has certainly had his fair share of opportunities.

Too much mete, IMO.

it's that the Hawks have this problem year in and year out.
This, on their way to 27 arrests again in a year, I mean they have to be the most problematic team year in and year out in the Big 10. ISU has one guy last year (Banks) get in trouble and HN acts like its the end of the world, what the hell are Clone fans suppose to say when the Hawkeyes are in trouble with the law every week? Its just crazy. List the allegations of the Iowa players over the last 4 years and ask yourself is Iowa City thugville, Iowa (theft, OWI's (multiple), assualt and wasnt there a rape or something in there?)?

I'd like Jon Miller to tell me if he thinks giving his OWN son a one game suspension for two alcohol related arrests is "stern" punishment.

Is Jon banned here? Why didn't he just take the two minutes to log in and paste that himself? He's another LaBron - too important to post his own thougts - he thinks he is much bigger than he really is.

Didn't he immediately boot those guys off that were accused of rape a few years back?

um he shouldn't be awarded for doing somthing that takes very little decision making....if he didn't kick them off immediately, he should be locked up.

Jon Miller,

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Kirk has been real consistent. Just ask Beutjer! Just ask the people around IC how consistent he was with Matt Roth!! The IC police will tell you all about his consistency in handling these issues. His son gets a game and they boot off the backup deep snapper. But he is consistent!!

Does it really matter if his son got a game or 13 games? He didn't play last year anyway.

I think that you are missing the point. The point was not if his son played last year or not it was about how "consistent" his punishment or lack there of was.

I'm guessing that you were one of the hawk fans that were ripping on Andrew Long when he got his second offense. But this is different because Binns was endangering the life of others while Long was using a fake ID. Yep fake ID is much worse . . .

The number of players KF has had in trouble over the years cannot be ignored. It seems to me, a few years back, when Iowa was struggling a bit, many Hawk fans were even questioning Kirk on this. But when they started winning again they turned the blind eye once again.

Personally, I think KF is a good coach and a good person. It's not like they have Lane Kiffin or some other slimeball coaching over there. But I do think KF deserves to be under a bit of a microscope just for the frequency that these incidents seem to pop up, if nothing else.

If Jon can put aside his loyalties for a moment, I think he would admit there are valid criticisms.
