Bad news. According to the Tuesday Saint Paul Pioneer Press, Jon Leuer has four recruiting trips coming up starting on August 3rd to Iowa, then to Notre Dame, Indiana, and West Virginia.

He's been to ISU already...at our elite camp. Not sure if we need to read to much into the lack of an ISU trip.

Jeremy, how solid the Hoosier information? As I've mentioned before, I follow the Hoosiers quite closely as my 2nd favorite team (went to grad school there). I have not seen anything on their insider sites recently to indicate that his is a strong lean there. Any info would be appreciated.

I think from what I've heard he really likes the Hoosiers and what they've said to him. I think it ultimately comes down to playing time for Leuer though and he wants to play a lot of minutes by his sophomore season. I think Indiana is right now his flavor of the week but don't count out the others, especially Minnesota even though they don't have a scholarship to offer right away.

I have asked this on another thread so sorry for the double up, but has anyone heard anymore on Tyler Sash??

Forget this question. I had too much football on the brain and asked a football recruit question in a basketball recruiting thread. Please accept my humble apologies.

How is Indiana even recruiting Leur. I thought Sampson could not recruit out of state with the sanctions? Anyone know how that works??

Sampson can't recruit on the road at all, or even make phone calls for that matter. However, there are no limitations on what his assistants can do. Further, if a recruit calls Kelvin there are no restrictions on that. In fact, Sampson is not even restricted from sending text messages/emails if he so desires - he just can't call a recruit or visit recruits off campus.
So, basically, Sampson sends his assistants out to recruit kids to tell them how much IU wants them to play there. They then hand the recruit Sampson's phone number and tell them how much Kelvin wants them to call him. The sanctions are really pretty fluffy - they hurt IU's recruiting a little since recruits love to be visited by the head man, but in the grand scheme of things they don't affect them much at all.

Well we still have Brackins, and he is ranked higher than Leuer. Would have been nice to have him but.................

Importing big men should be a priority at Ames. We should thank AT for switching schools.
