Johnston is 1 game away from going to the little league world series. They played this morning on ESPN in their semi final game and won. They now play Saturday morning to go to the LLWS. That game is on ESPN also. Pretty neat to see a local team do this well.

I lived there for a while. I’ve been away for about a year but my balls have maintained the huge growth from my time there.

Johnston LL is very pro travel ball so the top kids go out for both where Im not sure other LL are like that.

Also you have a handful of very dedicated volunteers that make sure the fields/cages are nice.

Lastly the Johnston varsity coach knows how important the LL is to feeding players into his team so he is also involved.

Pretty sad that I've lived nearly 20 years in Johnston and have never attended a sporting event. For all the money I've paid in taxes, with no children, they should probably name the high school after me or something....

I would argue Johnston is the best community in our state in terms of involvement in summer sports. Their HS hitting facility is unreal and the community does an unreal job of pushing the programs forward. Urbandale baseball is eerily similar

Did you see the Urbandales center fielders catch that saved 3 RBIs in the championship game? That kid wont ever have to pay for a meal at El Rodeo again.
