John Meeks wins at Dapper Dan

I'm surprised headgear isn't required for a meet like that. Given that nobody was wearing it in any of the pictures was it not even allowed?
 
FYI - No one wheres headgear in freestyle or greco. Thats why you see Cauliflower ear. The wresters who do alot of freestyle and greco have the worst ears. I wrestled at ISU and have no Cauliflower ear because I didn't wrestle freestyle or greco.

Headgear is for the ears. Next time you see a wrestler look at his ears. If he wrestles alot of freestyle or greco he will have Cauliflower ear.
 
I know what it is...but never seen it spelled "color flower". Just giving you a hard time :smile:

my dad hat is off let me say this about the match - john was very prepared for this match but what i seen from the beginning is that these two wrestled the same match, both took very good shots and both countered the others shots with shutdown defence so where else can you get points (ESCAPES) two high level kids gave their best shots and it resulted in a chess match.

i would not call it boring
you dont shut down everybody - if you go and check out the wins that Spearman has it looks like a whos who list
it was a very good match to me

Boring or not - winning matters. Look @ Joe Williams from Iowa - had probably the most "boring" lowest scoring matches ever and he won 3 titles.

I watched the match on Flowrestling and I completely agree. This was a chess match between two top kids. John was super sharp and did exactly what he needed to do to win against a very, very good opponent. That is the brilliance of John Meeks. He can beat you in a variety of ways...physically, technically, mentally and as this matched proved, in a strategic chess match.
 
I know they were top rated and maybe it was a chess match - but chess matches are boring as well. It's just my opinion. I'd rather watch a match where there was more action.

choice. I never wore them n practice, just matches. got cauliflower in both ears. got it dtained, casted with stitches. still there but not too bad...
