A tweet from johnelway: I am excited to announce that John Fox has agreed to terms to become the 14th head coach in Denver Broncos history.

Also received a text from a while ago.

I am pretty excited I wanted either Fox or Dennison. Defense should improve so that is a plus.

it couldn't get any worse!

This is an interesting hire. Fox was able to achieve marginal success in Carolina, (3 winning seasons in 9 years) but I wonder if this hire is less about who Fox is, and more about who he isn't. (McDaniels) and by that I mean, he's a guy with head coaching experience, who isn't going to demand control.

I am not a Broncos fan but personally I don't think I could be to happy with the hire. He acheived mediocraty at Carolina and only won 2 games this year. His last couple years he teams have seemed to of gone down hill. But I guess with the coaches that were available, there weren't to many options.

I like the hire. His teams like him, even when they are losing you don't hear all the players turning their back on him. No drama, food defense. I think the Broncos ownership will make it easier to succeed than Carolina's. They got rid of Peppers and such.

I agree the last couple years weren't much of Foxes fault. The panther ownership didn't provide fox with much.

Also agree with whoever said its every McDaniels isn't.

Now bring on Fairley or Bowers. Get the Dline turned around.

Would you rather have the DT or DE?

I would have to say DT. If they switch to 4-3, definitely DT. If they stay with the 3-4, I would prefer DT but either or would be fine. With almost every team switching to 3-4, I hope the broncos go back to the 4-3.

We seem better built for 4-3 then 3-4. 3-4 DTs are hard to find. Ayers and Doom on Ends. Jamal Williams and Fairley at DT. DJ Williams and Woodyard for OLB. Mays or Hunter at MLB (also drafting an MLB). and Secondary basically the same. Hopefully resign Champ.

Defense gets a lot of blame but I don't think much can be put on them. The offense was amazing at 3 and outs, Tebow seemed to help the offense in that department. Having Doom out for the year created no pass rush, making the secondary look horrible.

As for the offense, o-line is fine. maybe fine a replacement for harris. Guy always seems hurt and if Tebow is the starter he is now the blindside. With Fox here, hopefully he can get DeAngelo Williams to come to Denver. Williams, Moreno and White sound pretty decent. Tebow will get better with practice and experience. WRs seem pretty fine as well. Maybe trade Gaffney for a pick to use for defense.

Wow that turned into a small novel.

Haha yea I agree. I think I want Fairly too, woodyard bugs me seemed like he would over run a lot of plays and also miss quite a few tackles. Wouldn't mind a new linebacker. Also, need to find a saftey as Dawkins best years are definitely behind him.

Denver still has to pay Shanahan and McDaniels next year so they didn't have high dollar money to throw around. Fox is a decent hire. He's coached in a Super Bowl and reached the playoffs a few times with Carolina.

It's definitely an improvement over McD**chebag. He came in with extreme arrogance and ran off players and made one stupid decision after another on draft day. I'm just happy Bowlen finally saw the light and canned the punk.

The Broncos will be back.

Denver's two biggest needs are D-line and secondary. I'm thinking the three guys to choose from at No. 2 will be Bowers, Fairley and Peterson (if Carolina takes A.J. Green and all three are available). I think you go D-line and you can't go wrong with Bowers or Fairley. Denver has two picks in the second round so they can address the secondary then

This hire is a joke. Yes, lets go hire a guy that was fired from the very same position somewhere else. I can't believe how far this franchise has fallen that John Fox is the best we can do. Can't wait to see what bust of a player we draft at #2.

McDaniels was a complete disaster. Fox can't be any worse. Keep the faith

The hire is not a surprise. It was not going to be a flashy hire. It was going to be Dennison or Fox. Fox was safer since he has head coaching experience. He'll try and I mean try to fix the defense and get back to a basic run the ball concept which will help Tebow. We need a bruiser runner to compliment Knowshon. Let's face it - Bronocos will be mediocre at best the next couple year.
