Man, talk about hitting the Skids; I wonder if 84 Lumber is gonna pick up his sponsorship next year?
I have a relative who watched John Daly play on a mini tour in Arkansas when he first got started in his pro career. He said Daly got DQ'd one tournament because he took too long in a porta-potty. Apparently the other two guys in the group called the clock on him and he took something like 30 minutes on the can. The rumor was that he passed out in there and his caddy had to wedge open the door. Don't know if it is true or not
I'd wager a yes on that one. What a waste of talent. He could have been one of the most beloved guys on tour, and pretty successfull if he coulda only reigned it in halfway.
The thing about John Daly that made him such a popular member of the tour was the fact that he seemed like such a regular guy. Someone that all hackers could relate to. It's too bad his vices far outweigh his talents.
I've read interviews where he talks about all the money he has lost from gambling or lost sponsorship like we talk about dropping a penny, No big deal.
