Jeter to retire after 2014

I have no problem with Jeter, just hate when opponents pay tribute to a guy who has kicked your *** for 19 years.

If he gets 120 hits this year, will finish in 6th place all-time for total hits. Currently has record with 200 post season hits, runner-up has 128.

It's too bad he had what is essentially a career ending ankle break. He is pushing 40 and has an ankle that was held together with screws to try and mend it. When I saw the ticker run on ESPN I at first read it as him retiring right now. I would be beyond amazed if he is even a shadow of his old self this year.

I hate the Yankees more than any other team in sports, yet he was the one guy I've never uttered a bad word about (other than when he was crushing my Twins in the playoffs).

I almost want to see him go out on top. Almost.

As a Boston fan, I don't like the Yankees but I've always liked Jeter a little bit. How could you not want to live that guy's life?

he should have retired a few years ago.

Except he hit .316 in 2012 not .220 or something. The ankle was the big deal at the end of 2012. Before that folks in 2011 thought he might be done but had a great second half and career normal good 2012.

Most impressive number for Derek Jeter is 0. A multi-decade career, zero baby mommas. First ballot, Player Hall of Fame.

I'm like many fans. Despise the Yankees with every fiber of my being, but I've always liked Jeter and Rivera.

He's been my favorite player to watch over the last 20 years. Classy guy. Always had a real distinctive look when he came to bat. Yank's are going to miss him for a lot of reasons.

I've always hated the Yankees but I love Jeter. Guy just went about his business in the right way and was the epitome of "cool" on a baseball field. Plus, you've got to respect the line of women that have ran through his house.
