Reeves is a great athlete, and he hypes up his vertical making up for being 5'7" (listed on cyclones.com) but I can think of twice last night that another 2" in height or vertical wouldve helped tremendously. Our DBs held down the EIU receivers but I feel like UConn's WRs had a decent game against us. Is Reeves going to be able to hold down upcoming WR crews? I know OU is good, are any other future opponents going to cause similar problems as last night?

Another 2 inches and he would be a NFL player. He would also be playing at Texas right now.

Reeves just tried to catch the ball.. if he went up with 1 hand he would have broken up the passes.

If teams want to throw jump balls at Reeves, I think that works out well for us in the end. He had a rough game last night, but the guy's a freaking ninja. He's been really close to intercepting multiple passes this year.

Ya, he's got everything except the height needed. He has been a liability at times. However, it's going to be very rare where both of your CB's are able to lock down. You're almost always going to have one that can be exploited.

Last night was the first night he really had a bad game, he has played well for the most part. Like mentioned before Two Inches taller he is at Texas. Plays hard, no complaints here. Those two PI calls were touchy to say the least...

Broyles is only 6'0" or so isn't he? He might match up well with him.

He will be fine, I'm not worried about him at all. Missed a few big ones last night that were just over his head but his overall coverage is great, and he is awesome at coming up and helping with the run. One of the most underrated guys on our team.

I don't necessarily blame him, either. He thought he had a reasonable chance at making a play and he missed. I like the aggressive play, because if he comes down with that ball that's probably the nail in the coffin. Unfortunately he didn't have safety help, which probably should have factored into his decision.

Exactly. Most people can reach about 4 inches higher if they go up with only one hand. For example I can't even come close to dunking a bball with two hands but I can throw it down with one hand.

Reeves still has a chance to catch that ball even if he goes up with one hand. At his height, he needs to make sure he gets up as high as possible so he can at least knock the ball away.

Call me crazy, but I think cover-wise Reeves is better than LJ. He is just a couple inches from being an NFL corner. He can stay with anyone that we have faced this year. Hopefully with safety help over the top, last night was just a hiccupp in his season.
Also, didn't he record 10 tackles?

Reeves is a great corner. The only reason he gets picked on so much is no one wants to throw at LJ. The tall receivers are a tough match up for him, but I feel like he holds his own just fine. For his size, he does a great job in run support too. If they keep throwing at him, he'll get his share of picks.

I see what you're saying and agree with you. As far as staying with a guy and being on his hip at all times, Reeves may be better.

Reeves is one of the best tacklers on the team and rarely out of position. He got hosed on the first PI call. He is undersized but makes up for it in a variety of ways.

Like someone said, Reeves is at Iowa State because of his size.

Name me a DB that makes every play. Even the one's that are 2 inches taller be beat at times. Overall, JR is a vert good DB.

This is NOT correct. To understand the concept you need to realize 2 things:

1. It is easier being a good athlete when you are short. Shorter limbs = quick

2. Growing slows people down. Tall people are almost never quick. They are generally fast if anything.

Finding quick athletic tall people is very hard to do. Every short person says they would be all world if they were tall. It does not work that way my friend.

The play against Iowa in the opening drive where Davis catches an over-the-shoulder catch was airtight coverage. There were catches by UConn where Reeves was all over his man, but he also got called for 2 P.I. I think.
