Jarvis west?

We need him to play. Wesley is not ready. He could end up being a great player but he had 3-4 very easy dropped passes that ended drives. Hopefully he shows the fast progress that Tribune did when he was suddenly thrust into premature playing time.

Hope so too. Heard it was not typical of him, judging from his short time in Ames through 7 on 7 in the summer and through fall camp. Freshman nerves maybe. Lazard had a few easy drops early on, too.

Need to use Montgomery more.

He seems like he could be really good, but I do see what the supposed problem with him is. Rhoads has hinted that he maybe doesn't fully trust him on the field. Bruns reported a play Saturday where Sam dropped back to pass looking to throw to Montgomery and he was actually blocking. Sam was left out to dry and took a sack.

I am hearing montgomry is a little like Bo Williams. Has all of the tools but is not understanding the position real well like they want him to.

Did he? The only drop I remember is the one Sam threw behind him where Lazard had to reach back. It got tipped up and picked off.

Yeah, he's had a couple go through his mitts. Couldn't tell you the exact scenarios. Also know fall camp started out shaky for him as he dropped a few. Not a reflection of talent. First time jitter type stuff, imo. Just used him as reference point for JW's early struggles.
