What happended to this guy? Earlier Chris Williams was predicting him to have a big season and couldn't say enough good stuff about him. Then he did virtually nothing in the spring game and I haven't heard anything about him since. I see he is 2nd string behind Darks which doesnt suprise me. But the fact that Horne came in and beat out West and Lenz kind of does. Is West still looking good has anyone heard? Whats the latest word on your boy Chris?

Lenz was solid last year, and if Horne beat him out, then he's better than solid.
Jarvis is a RS Frosh with wheels but no experience. Give him some time. He is second on the depth chart so he should see some time to prove himself.

The problem with guys like West is that if they only play once in awhile, it become obvious what they're going to do. Remember when ISU was trotting out Phil Bates as a TRFR? They'd try to get the ball in his hands and the D would just swarm to him. Same thing is going to happen with West. It wouldn't surprise me if he ended the year with negative yards.
Seriously? He's a slot receiver not a second quarterback... He is going to play a lot. It makes 0 sense to compare him to Bates. Not comparable situations.

Negative yards for a receiver? That would be a first. First of all, he's second string, so he's going to see more action than what you say, especially in this offense, where we run lots of plays with lots of WRs.
The secret's out on Shontrelle Johnson, too. Why aren't you predicting negative yards for him?

Yeah, negative yards is an exaggeration. All I'm saying is that when you bring in a Jarvis West and replace Horne, what do you THINK the defense is going to do? I know what I would do...get after the little guy with the dreads because he's gonna be slippery and ISU must want to get him the ball.
Shontrelle Johnson is a RB. It's not going to be so obvious when they throw him the ball. Does no one here remember Phil Bates as a freshman?
They also swarmed him on end arounds and bubble screens. Whenever Bates was in, he was likely getting the ball and likely not downfield. Probably the reason why that play worked vs iowa...they never had him go deep until that point. And they hardly did after. Why wouldn't you put a LB on him if all he's going to do is run around behind the line of scrimmage?
haha really? look at our stats from that year... bates was like 4th in receiving... pretty obvious we weren't focusing on him when he was at receiver.
O and on that catch when they put a lb on him, he was lined up outside, not in the slot
Well he wasn't listed on the depth chart as a WR, now was he. Everyone knew that they were trying to get the ball in his hands, so yes everyone keyed on him, but he was still the athletic QB that they brought in to line up in other spots. It's not like West is going to be lining up out of position or anything.
What about Horne, he's the new guy that cracked the starting line up, why don't teams just swarm him??
