If you don't have depth, that's a serious issue. But CMC claims there are no issues and he's not concerned.
Yes he is. His actions say so.
It's no big deal to deny it..... but it is an issue.
Umm…no, they don’t.
Hard as it may be for you to believe, some of us pay attention to what CMC is actually doing.
In January, CMC brought in two JC pkayers as early enrollees in linebacker Jacob Ellis and offensive lineman James Neal—both sophomores with (at least) three years of eligibility remaining.
During Spring, he commented that Ellis (and four year transfer Colby Reeder) had experience that the high school signees lacked.
Clearly this was an experiment that worked, because, by all accounts, both had impressive Springs.
Much as with guys like Greg Eisworth, Josh Knipfel and Collin Franklin (and current Cyclone DeShawn Hanika), JC’s with three years to play simply have more time to develop their raw athleticism.
The next thing that happened was that CMC obviously set his staff to scouring JC Spring practices and tapes for more immediately eligible sophomores-to-be.
The group of players that they visibly identified clearly includes JC rising soph OL, corners—
and the aforementioned safeties.
The next thing that happened is that the safeties either scheduled visits or actually visited—which is the point where McDonald announced his transfer.
After one of them was already on campus. And then Jordyn Morgan followed.
Now, two of the cornerbacks they identified have visited, and at least one OL. Which means, not that CMC is “lying” or “worried”, but that he’s taking an innovative approach to improving quality depth on his team.
