Jamie Pollard statement regarding ticket scanning process during home opener

I’ve had beer at I-Cubs baseball games, Creighton basketball games, ethnic festivals, Lenten fish fries, etc. All of them were family friendly events and I’ve seldom seen anyone ridiculously drunk. Are Iowa State sports fans the only people that can’t handle the freedom to drink at an event?

Edit: It occurs to me now that ISU fans that give a lot of money are considered responsible enough to drink at events, so I’ll rephrase my question. Are low donor Iowa State fans the only people that can’t handle the freedom to drink at an event?

I've been going to games since 2001, and there has been a re-entry system in place dating back to at least then.
Of course, and many venues allow it. I guess I wasn't questioning how long we've done it at the Jack, just why it would be a deal breaker for alcohol sales there.

I think I can answer this myself. The simple answer is that it (alcohol sales) just is (problematic). Add to that the Cyclone tailgating tradition. Add to that insurance issues (which I don't quite get yet). Add to that liability issues (that I do get). Am I missing anything else? [Other than the AD is against it.]

I'm not a proponent either way, really. I am just looking for safe ways to get more revenue for the AD, and to satisfy the demand for some.
The final question is probably a risk vs. reward one.

People shouldn't leave at halftime anyway. Stay and support the band and cheer squads, grab a bite to eat, whatever. No reason to leave, you'll just miss second half kickoff anyway. It's not even that long of a break.
How true. If you are leaving at the half to grab a drink, beer, food, etc., you'd have to be a damn fast eater/drinker, and runner, to get back in time.

Another reason to have alcohol concessions up and thru halftime. But I guess we've covered that.

Can the concourse handle the load? I know halftime rituals (food and restrooms) are painful.
