The Busch Series, okay Nationwide Series (it'll always be the Busch series to me), will be in Newton Aug 1, 2009.

I had my doubts that the Iowa Speedway would be successful, glad to be proven wrong!

Yeah, they had a Rolex series there and a motorcycle race.

I would imagine that they would add another 20-30k seats to accomodate such large crowds for this event. I think they already have the footings poured to expand bleachers per Newton's head building official...expanding such bleachers would only take a couple months to complete also.

This is huge for Newton, as you can expect that exit that is already exploding with economic development to just explode more. Big money not only for NEwton, but for Grinnell, Colfax, Des Moines, Altoona etc.

Thats great and think it will prove to be a great race. Rusty cant say enough about what Rusty Wallace has done for Iowa and that area, +rep to him!

The traffic jam has already started...

I keed, I keed. They did a great job of straightening out that snarl from what I heard. This is good news for Iowa whether you're a racin' fan or not.

They got a lot of bad press from that 1st indy race, but if you have 30,000 people show up an hour before the race, there, not much you can do. It would be a traffic jam in Ames or especially in iowa City if that happened.
