Honestly, I think 2-8 is up for grabs. 2 for Texas is generous IMO as Aston continues to underperform in getting the results out of the wealth of talent she has. Williams and White were her hardest workers last year and are gone.

On paper TX certainly looks like the solid #2 pick to me. Their starting 5 will be very strong. Depth may be their issue. Outside of the starting 5 there are a lot of unknowns. But Higgs, Holmes, Sutton, Collier and Taylor are quite an all-star cast. Next question is = will they improve under Aston or regress ?

honestly, I haven't seen Aston get the most out of her players like we see often from Mulkey and Fennelly.

Nothing official from Texas WBB on status of freshman Ashlee Hannan (6-4 F/C, Bruce, Australia), but their online roster was updated today, and she's no longer on it. It also appears she isn't enrolled at Texas this semester. As of yesterday, she wasn't in the transfer portal.

Iowa State was one of the finalist for Hannan so will be interested to see where she ends up.

I went to Austin Monday night and watched them play Lubbock Christian. They are a very good team for Div11. They came within an inch of beating Texas. Hannan IS off the team. Aston says she is not at liberty to comment on it. Joyner has a boot on her foot. One fan said she would be out 2 1/2 months, another said no she would only going to miss 4 - 5 games. So ?? Sutton also did not play as she has an ankle sprain. Lashaan Higgs is back and appeared to be her old self in the first half but looked tired in the second. She still has a brace on her leg. Joanne Taylor was dynamite for the Horns. They would not have won without her. If she plays at the same pace I saw Monday night she will be all Big 12.

Would Bill have room for her spring semester?

We have 14 of our 15 scholarships spoken for in the 2020-21 season, so we have room if:
  • Caitlin Clark picks someone else and we don't sign another player
  • ISU picks up Caitlin Clark or someone else but someone on the roster leaves early

Clark should be deciding soon -- the signing period starts Nov 13th and I think she's planning to decide by then or shortly after at latest. (Side note: there apparently is no "early signing period" anymore. The signing period doesn't end once it starts.) If Clark doesn't choose ISU, I imagine the coaches will look into the possibility of Hannan before offering the open slot to anyone else.

What would you put our chances at, <50%?
