I think we found out a lot about this team last night. Iowa State is basically just a really good Division 1AA school. Therefore I believe it's time we join the Gateway Conference! This would solve a lot of problems. For one we could be challenging for championships every year, or at least be a consistent playoff team. This would make the whiners who actually want ISU to be good happy, while simultaneously satisfy the loyal Mac fans drunk on the cool aid (or smoking bad weed).
Just think of the exciting, down to the wire games against Southern Illinois and the triple overtimes against Youngstown State. Mac could sure compete against those AA teams!
Our athletic budget and facilities would daunt even the largest 1AA program. We wouldn't have to build new facilities or worry about fund raising; we'd be the Texas of Double A.
We compete like a division 1AA team, so it's time we start playing more of them. If you can't beat them (or can just barely) join them.

I just wont even respond because I dont think I have an appropriate word to use in the response.

Why bring this up? It wouldn't work - they'd lose prestige from being in a smaller conference.....on the academic side, they would lose out on colaborative work in the B12. If ur dissipointed in the team, just say it, but not like this.

I'm pretty sure he meant it as a joke - it made me laugh!

There's nothing wrong with some light-hearted stabbing at our team to brighten up the mood. IMO this was much better than "I HATE THIS TEAM LET'S FIRE OUR COACH RIGHT NOW AND TAKE BACK ALL OF THE SCHOLARHIPS AND START OVER" type attitude (note- no one here is like that anyways, just trying to make a point!)

UNI obviously has a pipeline for qbs out of Oelwein, Iowa and great linebackers from Parkersburg and retreads from Nebraska. They almost won the national championship last yeatr. Can we say the same in the next twenty years?

What is more impressive in 12 years: runnerup in Div IAA or second in the Big 12 North?

Mark Farley is a great coach who would be a steal for ISU next year. Much like McDermot. Mark would bring flexible ideas to Ames. One to consider if JP goes that route. And we can afford him.

I think its a good idea. Then we'd have a HUGE budget comparatively! We wouldn't have to hear all the BS about our facilities and budget hurting our recruiting.

I about spit my soda onto my monitor. That was GREAT, and just a little bit true, which made it into my top 5 posts of all time on this site
